I worked at WellCare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

nice campus, salary OK (but not worth it)

    Cons

Just about everything. This is the shadiest company I have ever worked for, and I've been around. They spend countless manhours doing lip service to compliance, when the leadership of the company are some of the worst offenders in the industry. They consistently say, "We're changing, it's different now, new leadership." And it never makes one bit of difference. Rotten to the core. And though they go on about how important their members are to them, that is another big lie--it's the almighty dollar. And not for you, me or your colleagues, but for their shareholders and top executives. If you want to hate yourself every day, by all means go ahead and work here. If you want to wake up and look at yourself in the mirror and be OK with your job, run, run, run far away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice, they don't listen, they do exactly what's best for them and have no interest in the people who actually do the work in the company.

I have been working at WellCare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The new culture and management at the tippy top does not reflect the real culture in the middle and bottom. If you are in department that has a vice president or director that survived the last year-and-a-half the "new" is more like the old. Nice to know though that the new management at the very top thinks you should hire the best people, let them do their jobs and then measure them on success and failures.

    Cons

There is a management disconnect between the top, middle and bottom. Inability to measure success at all levels and failure to promote change outside of a good speech. Allowing vice presidents and directors from the old to administer their areas the way they see best is leading to highly questionable employment practices. Everything is still judged and the negative except for vice presidents, directors and senior management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a management consultant and start going through a top to bottom review of the company, its processes and its leadership at all levels. You'd be surprised at how unhappy the employees are and how incompetent senior management really is as managers. 30 and 40 year olds have no business being vice presidents or earning close to a million dollars a year. Experience is thin, knowledge is low and management styles are erratic.

I worked at WellCare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    No pros for this company.

    Cons

Unappreciative, low-paying, dishonest slave-drivers. Administration favors their pets, others are treated as replaceable. I waited too long, but we know how that goes: You think someone or something is going to change - and of course, they don't. Ohana Health Plan/Wellcare is not going to change. The culture of the company has been & will always be degrading.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You've contributed very well to America's downfall of the middle class. My advice: Treat & pay your employees like the hard-workers they are. Respect ALL employees. Playing favorites lost the company many great employees along the way. All companies' crap comes from the top & trickles down. I doubt Wellcare's bad culture will ever change - especially here in Hawaii. One star is too many.

I have been working at WellCare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There is no pros I can think of. The cons are so bad that any pro I list would not be worth the horrific cons.

    Cons

Disorganization. Lack of field training. No integrity If you have ever seen the children's show ,Rudolph the red nose reindeer , you will remember the island of misfit toys. For those of you who haven't, this is where all the unwanted and broken toys that kids DONT want go to "live". Well that is what WellCare is for. Those people who can't get a job or succeed at good quality companies. For those of you who think I am a disgrunteled employee ,I am not. I have lasted longer than any of the other employees in my training class. I hung in there longer then any one else in hopes that it could change. I began to try to be an agent of change. Making formal suggestions to fix broken processes. All I received was back lash and false accusations. I can write at least three pages of storys that would make your skin crawl. I will spare you the long read. I can some it up by a conversation I had with a doctor who really cares about his patients. He said he would never recommend WellCare" because you are dangerous to the lives of my patients".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You must take alot of medication to sleep at night. Unless your concious is so seared that you don't care. Pay the price and stand up for what is right instead of worrying about losing your job.

Good Benefits, friendly people, nice main campus but they moved us out.

    Cons

No path to growth, buddy system, unqualified people in senior positions, very political, terrible HR, total hypocrisy at every turn, very high stress, lack of industry standards, IT has no idea what it's doing floundering all over, constant change, no stability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your employees, offer them a chance to grow, hire from within.

    Pros

Training, Brain washing, salary and bonus, car allowance, cell phone, computer etc.

    Cons

Management has no clue how to communicate with employees! A crack whip environment. Drive to reach numbers by threats........need I say more

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to communicate with your employees, seek their advice and input on how to handle situations and move away from corporate B.S. Come together as a unit and put family's first. The numbers will come when employees fell that they are a part of something bigger!!!!!!!!!!!

    Pros

As the title indicates, it depends on who is in your management chain

    Cons

Again, depends on management chain. I believe that some people in my management chain were getting kickbacks from the contracting company they were dealing with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get some inter-departmental consistency

I have been working at WellCare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Decent pay and it's a job. However, that's all I can say. You have a pretty good opportunity for paid time off. Trust me, you'll want to use it as you will eventually hate the company.

    Cons

This is an incredibly negative work environment. Many workers will talk the company up TO GET THE REFERRAL BONUS. They are constantly cutting costs and staff to make life miserable for employees. The company grows but they don't hire. They have nearly no employee incentives for good work. I have never heard anyone, besides management, say they enjoyed working for the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support your employees. The company is always built from the bottom up, and without that support there is no company. I've worked here for years and I don't feel appreciated at all. The HR department needs work. Employees feel as if nothing they do is good or appreciated.

I have been working at WellCare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay for IT and Finance. Lots of opportunity for advancement due to high turnover at management levels. Flexible schedule, decent benefits.

    Cons

New senior management cares little about people. Work you to death and then lay you off. If your not Caucasian you don't stand a chance in IT, sadly this is supported by HR. You're not judged on performance or results, rather your charm, politicking and skin color. Very hostile cut throat work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell the company already, what are you waiting for?

I worked at WellCare full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Can't think of a thing.

    Cons

This applies only to the Louisville, KY, office. In a word: DISHONEST. I responded to a job posting that sounded perfect for me. Went through one telephone interview and 3 in-person interviews where the duties and scope of job was discussed in detail. I accepted employment, and reported for work.
To make a long story short: the company posted a job that did not exist, and what they posted was not the job they hoped to create with the state's approval. I spent 3 months commuting over 100 miles a day to sit and do NOTHING except be lied to AND investigating what was going on about my position.
They lied about the duties, they lied about the location, and they lied about even having the authority to hire me at all.
I finally got them to admit the whole situation was a scam. From the 'mistake' of posting the job too early, they lied to me because I had the unique skill set they wanted to keep me around while waiting for Kentucky to authorize the position.
    You have been warned...................

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To corporate in Tampa: keep an eye on your management outside of Tampa.
