Alice in Wonderland

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Tampa, FL

I have been working at WellCare full-time for more than 3 years

ProsIt is a nice paycheck in a great location, great co-workers.

ConsLike the Queen in Alice in Wonderland it is an unstable work environment where going home without losing your job is the weekly goal. No long term plans or career path in this company. People wait for Friday evening when the regular announcement of a termination or resignation comes. The logic or reasoning for the terminations since last September when 150 people were unexpectedly terminated is nonexistent. So it is Off with Their Heads! Then we'll reorganize and have a job fair.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn your business, get your act together and read a business book or two about creating a stable work environment.

Truly a non bleeding corp.

Benefits Consultant (Current Employee)

I have been working at WellCare full-time for more than a year

ProsSteady hours and good benefits package.

ConsManagement is negative and not realistic in terms of marketing importance. Commissions are some of the lowest in the Medicare Advantage world, and dropping.

Advice to Senior ManagementGenerate more sales support by close management instead of yelling from afar. Increase presence in local markets through local advertisement.

Supervisor

Supervisor Config (Former Employee)
Tampa, FL

I worked at WellCare full-time for less than a year

ProsGood team mates, helpful and willing to help

ConsPay is awful and you're underpaid and overworked. No training, dept do not work together with the markets, cred, or provider ops. No one knows what the other is doing. Unwilling to accept change. No documentation to support anything, today you're doing this tomorrow it's another way. No time to support your team bc you're in unnecessary mtgs and calls. Just put a bandaid on issues and doesn't think about the end result. Worse company by far I have ever worked at. Layoff but then the next week you're having a job fair. Mgmt strews everyone along with VP's sleeping with others. It's who u know not what u know

Advice to Senior ManagementTake heed to what is being said from the employees. Over training have documentation to support processes.

just not the culture for me

Case Manager (Current Employee)
Tampa, FL

I have been working at WellCare full-time for less than a year

Prossalary is competitive with same position at other insurance companies; ability to work from home; nice co-workers;

Consno training program - you just figure it out as you go; no career development paths; typical office politics; disorganized; management does not value their clinical staff

Advice to Senior ManagementTake some management classes; put some processes in place

Contractors seem to be better treated than full time employees

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Tampa, FL

I worked at WellCare full-time for less than a year

ProsGood benefits, work from home supported and encouraged where applicable, lots of engaged people, corporate campus nice, on-site cafeteria and gym.

ConsSome departments run by their own agenda, management by fire, low morale in many areas, IT dictates requirements to business units

Advice to Senior ManagementRemove the little mini-kingdom managers and ensure all are supporting corporate initiatives.
