    somewhat satisfactory

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe work environment depends mainly on your direct manager. There are great people who have kept the true essence of the company's culture and live the values. The opportunities are dependent on your direct reports.

ConsAs an overall, I think the company structure change has proven to provide no loyalty.

Lots of Uninteresting Work, Not a Lot of Growth Opportunities

    Actuarial Analyst (Current Employee)

ProsThe role seems to attract really fun and interesting people. Middle management is really down to earth. They don't have everything figured out yet, which leaves a lot of potentially interesting projects on the table.

ConsThe hours are long and the extra time spent goes largely unappreciated. There doesn't seem to be any kind of career development process in place; no one seems to get promoted here. It's concerning to see talented and loyal people who can't move forward.

Advice to Senior ManagementEstablish a clear path for promotion and advancement. The hush-hush culture of pay, promotion, and even benefits is really demoralizing. It's not fair to expect employees to work 60 hour weeks when the market pays more for similar schedules.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    It was a paycheck

    Claims Processor (Current Employee)
    Indianapolis, IN

ProsIt was steady work but the pay was sub par for the industry. There were opportunities fo work from home only it did not interest me There were periods of mandatory overtime that could sometimes be excessive but it would look good on the paycheck.

ConsThere was always risk of being downsized. I worked there for over six years and one day they virtually downsized my entire department with the exception of a few people.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement does not lead by example. Take do not the time to get to know the employees and humanize the team concept.

Below average benefits and limited promotion opportunities

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe ability to work from home is a great option for some employees.

ConsLimited promotion opportunities. Low wages compared to industry standards. Health benefits are surprisingly bad for being a health insurance company

Advice to Senior ManagementMiddletown site just had a million dollar over haul to improve the conference rooms (appearance, decor and furniture) yet the employees that sit at their desks for 8 hours a day have the same chairs from the 1980's.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
