Stable

Operations Analyst III (Current Employee)
Salt Lake City, UT

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 8 years

ProsVery stable company. No fear of being laid off.

ConsManagement gets stuck in their ways. They don't like change or new ways of doing things.

It all depends on what group you work for

Marketing Manager (Former Employee)
San Francisco, CA

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 8 years

ProsWork/life balance
Salary
Benefits
Lots of really smart, motivated people
Some work can be great, some mind-numbing
There are some great divisions to work with, and some awful ones. The good ones are great, and the awful ones are petty, political, and focused on keeping leadership happy instead of focusing on their work or the customer.

ConsPolitics
Too big to move quickly
Very hard to implement change
Too many excuses ("Legal won't let us" "we've always done it this way")

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your 2-downs. They have management's perspective as well as Team Member's perspective. They see and hear things you don't, and have the customer's experience in mind, not the bottom line.

good and bad

Security (Current Employee)
San Francisco, CA

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGenerally nicer people than company I came from. Good pay, so so benefits. Don't like the PTO system they have. Count holidays as PTO???

ConsThere are some old timers who have been there too long and who think they can get away with anything. Some folks have good memories and stuff happens on the return sooner or later.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork smarter not harder. Think about that.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Forward Hire training program - YAY 'back in the day'

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Wells Fargo

ProsThe Brand - Learning and positioning to clients consistently. Building client relationships at various engagement points i.e.: community events…in the drive-thru…at the ATM…quality 'in-aisle' conversations…greet at five feet

ConsLearning the brand and positioning to clients consistently. Listening to overcome customer objections understanding those traps

Advice to Senior ManagementBe the example…Act as if…reward and recognition…banker buddies…branch cluster-calling events...town hall meetings…emulate WF in all you do - internally and externally

Great place to learn about banking and customer service.

Operations Manager (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 8 years

ProsAbove average benifits and opportunity for advancement along with balancing work/life

ConsCommunications Can sometimes be unclear

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter definition of overall goals of company and how each division plays a part or how they can help to meet these corporate goals.

Great Company overall but as with any corporation you may be a bit limited / restricted

Home Mortgage Consultant (Current Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGreat people to work with, excellent benefits, the resources of a large company, 401k match is excellent, numerous business lines to learn from and refer to.

ConsThey want the ad services department to review my linked in account or shut it down. Lots of audits / paperwork of a large company. Can be restrictive as far as marketing / advertising.

Advice to Senior ManagementI recommend changing the banker compensation plan for unrestricted potential of mortgage referrals etc. Pay to be based on profit not solution driven or goals of last quarter. On the mortgage side please do not make sweeping layoffs of positions such as assistants when you are trying to cut costs, make them contingent upon production and profits of a branch, you cut your own profits.

Great starting place

Personal Banker I (SAFE) (Current Employee)
Baltimore, MD

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat place to start and get general level banking experience

ConsTakes a while to move up within such a large company. Not great communication between levels. Sales goals are impractical

Stable Environment, Great People

Marketing Program Manager (Current Employee)
San Francisco, CA

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 5 years

ProsI work with a lot of very smart and motivated people. The culture is that of a team, it's very collaborative, and people are generally trying to do the right thing for the customers and the business without letting their own agendas cloud their judgment.
Also, good work/life balance.

ConsSometimes not easy to move up. People stay a while. Business is always trying to do more with less. A company this big has a lot of controls in place for internet usage etc and it can feel very big brother-like sometimes.

Advice to Senior ManagementAlthough data and analytics are supposed to be an area of focus, it falls by the wayside so that we do not put annual growth targets ever at risk. Growth goals are relentless. While corporate profits are record-breaking, can't we invest more in systems and technology to really understand our customers better? It would help us seem less like a monolithic big bank and more like the very large community-like bank we aspire to be.

Love my job in Credit Analysis

Credit Analyst (Current Employee)

I have been working at Wells Fargo

ProsFlexibility, freedom, friendly people, fun. I rally enjoy that they dint micromanage. My job is left up to me, and if I dont get it done its my fault.

ConsThere aren't many open positions within the department to move up. The job gets a little boring and people obviously want to move up, but management positions are rarely open.

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate new positions to allow for more growth. Have the job written down on paper so people can learn it easier. Learn how to delegate to manage workflow rather than doing mandatory overtime.

Too stressful on sales

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Wells Fargo

ProsThe people are good to work with, not management. And the paid-time-off.

ConsSales stress, they ask for way to much.
