I have been working at Wells Fargo as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

They have a great work life balance and a lot of their managers want you to do well and encourage you to take classes to help you in your career or even suggest open positions within the company that may help in your career advancement. They are also very flexible with your schedules.

    Cons

For someone to move up in their position, it would take someone in your group to quit or get fired, so it takes a while.

I have been working at Wells Fargo

    Pros

Working with amazing people. You can be anything you want with this company. They're huge with promoting within the company and if you have passion and demonstrate that u have what it takes you will go far.

    Cons

I would say that there is constant change. Management seems to always change and sales have been difficult with all the company changes currently happening.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is usually good. They care about your growth and push you to do better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to get thinned out. Way to many chiefs. Not enough of these chief have ever been in the trenches.

    Pros

They are diverse, offer great training, and invest in their employees.

    Cons

Poor management. Operations varies too much by region. Unrealistic sales goals and pressure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give managers more training on how to coach employees and develop them so that they can stop micro managing.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very stable job with decent pay and benefits. Lots of large systems to work on, with large scale customer numbers.

    Cons

Very slow moving and behind the times on development platforms, software, infrastructure, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Flatten the layers of IT managers to improve velocity and cut costs. The ratio of managers to engineers is way too. I have yet to be on a project where the business managers, product managers, project managers, engineering managers, etc... hasn't outnumbered the engineers by at least 6 to 1. Also, the cool factor of working on Wells Fargo technology is ZERO. We need to attract young developers, as the IT staff is aging rapidly.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Business growth focused, has strong financials, so good opportunities for people in the team.

Customer centricity in decisions- good stuff there, helps you feel peace of mind that you are doing the right thing.

Decent work life balance, average 50 hrs a week at managerial levels.

Decent pay, probably top tier among west coast banks.

Good/warm people, most of them working for Wells over a decade, tend to be less aggressive (vs. other banks).

    Cons

Heavily matrixed org and not-so-effective top/middle leadership, leading to ambiguity on ownerships/ accountability and too much in-fighting among teams.

Very slow moving on making decisions. Too much red tape and bureaucracy to deal with.

Mixed bag on talent/skill levels across all levels, so logic/sense gets victimized in decisions. Usually most politically correct position or loudest voice or highest paid person's opinion wins out.

Career progress appears limited and slow. Promotions virtually non existent. People sitting in the same role for long- easily 5+ years with no upward trajectory.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Eliminate too many cooks problem, and simplify / streamline org structure and decision making.

Be more logic/fact based in decision making, encourage the culture top to bottom.

Ensure clear career path that results in upward trajectory within the same space/role- don't just ask people to do lateral move for development.
