I worked at Werner Enterprises full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The skillets in the cafe always made me come to work on Tuesdays. Big Blue Bargains at the warehouse helped cut my grocery costs. The sales area is probably the best place to work. Except for inside sales. Their social media has improved a lot in the past two years. As an employee it was great to see the drivers on there be so engaged. The lady who runs orientation for employees also is one of the best people in the company.

    Cons

The hours are horrible A 50 hour week is required and there is no flexibility without using PTO. There's an expectation to almost work a full day on Christmas Eve. The people running the show make decisions that upset everyone and they don't care. Their earnings are continually on the decline and it's because they can't keep employees or drivers, and the head people are getting paid millions. It's a family environment but the family always takes favor over worthy candidates.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to keep your employees, give them decent hours, better pay and more reasons to come to work everyday.

I have been working at Werner Enterprises full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Very employee-friendly. Had a death in the family in my first few months and there was no issue taking the time I needed.

    Cons

PTO could be a little better; pay is a little lower than I'd like, but not bad. Management is very hands-off in my department, which can sometimes be a pro and sometimes a con

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great starter company, not for long term or women drivers

    I worked at Werner Enterprises

    Pros

Will take you fresh outta school with no experience and a DUI over 5 yrs old. Relaxed atmosphere. 3 days of orientation only. Uses Qualcomm.

    Cons

They only had 3 women drivers nation wide! The pay is crap. Was going to have to wait forever for a non smoking woman trainer, and I should've because my trainer I was paired with was a train wreck!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should offer more incentives for women to sign on, which will open more opportunities for women drivers. And a possible compatibility test before you team people up to train.

Current Employee - Programmer in Omaha, NE

I have been working at Werner Enterprises full-time

    Pros

Many opportunities. Appears to be growing, peppered with many hard workers, company can be a global mover in the trucking and logistics arena if it can tap into the wealth of lower level workers.

    Cons

Management and poor leadership seem to stifle so many careers and innovations. Salary is not enough to keep the talented workers and it is the poor leadership actions that drives them away..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pour into those who are trying to move the company forward. Give back to those who are giving and don't try to bleed them dry of energy and ideas. More quality training, better policies for office employee's ...stop treating them like truck drivers...they are NOT.

Former Employee - Truck Driver in Fontana, CA

I worked at Werner Enterprises full-time for less than a year

    Pros

they will take you right out of school with no experience. Lots of miles if you are willing to work for them. the will always reimburse you for truck purchases.

    Cons

night time dispatch, weekend dispatch, breakdown procedures.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

tell dispatch to treat their drivers with more respect, they keep your company going. get some new trailers & get rid of the jalopies. make an easier way to get a hotel when you break down because not everyone accepts those E.F.S checks " like none do. Tell your recruiters to stop lying. western regional should mean western regional.
