I have been working at Westpac Banking full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Westpac has embraced flexible and diverse work practices which make it a great place for anybody to work hard and achieve their personal goals, within their corporate and personal lives.

    Cons

In many specialized areas the bulk of people are from outsourced providers which reduce the depth of experience one can gain and the opportunity for rapid advancement (again increase in salary as you are competing with a commodity workforce)

I have been working at Westpac Banking full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great flexibility such as work from home etc.
    - Lots of internal opportunities but obviously will have to go through the normal job application process
    - Great employee benefits

    Cons

    - Pay scale bit low compared to other banks
    - Training opportunities depends on your manager
    - Pay rise not consistent across the divisions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too much politics at Senior Management level but I guess it is the norm in corporate world!!! Wish they would work together more for the company rather than building their own empire.

I worked at Westpac Banking full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Of all the organisations that I have worked for, Westpac has the best balance. Given it's size, there are pockets of good and bad leadership. The trick is to find the good.
I was particularly proud of Westpac's commitment to the community and supporting diversity in the work place.

    Cons

There are way too many pockets of bad leadership and you need to be able to play the political game.

I have been working at Westpac Banking full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Working hours are flexible and workload is acceptable. In general, Westpac is the place to have work life balance while you get paid above average salary in the financial services industry. Westpac is a huge organisation and it does encourage people to move around different teams. For example, a department head is required to swap roles with another department head every 3 to 4 years in order to challenge themselves. Employee benefits are excellent and can save heaps of money.

    Cons

Some people are lazy and don't know what they are doing. Since they have been with the bank for a long time, the company cannot get rid of them easily. If you are a highly ambitious employee, you should look elsewhere. This is the domestic commercial bank for people who want work life balance.
