I worked at Wet Seal part-time for more than a year
Pros – You get 40% off merchandise that is not on sale.
Cons – Constantly on call, two-faced managers, bad pay, hardly ever get requested days off, constantly getting blamed for theft.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop putting all of your work on your associates.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at Wet Seal full-time for less than a year
Pros – Generous discount is about the only pro I can manage here. The clothing is not of horrible quality so I did take advantage of that perk.
Cons – I was hired as a store manager for a new location that was opening. From the start I realized how disorganized this company was. They had no definitive opening date for the store and when I did get it, it turned out to be only 10 days from my hire date. That means I had 10 days to be trained, recruit, hire and train my entire staff and set up the entire store which on my hire date was just an empty shell of a store. Needless to say, it was a complete disaster. I was trained for 2 AND A HALF DAYS. Let me repeat that, I had 2 AND A HALF DAYS of training. That's less than three days to learn all of the SOPS, the computer system, their visual guidelines, everything. The store opening was mayhem and we ended up closing after about an hour because HQ had failed to acquire the appropriate permits. Not a great start.
In my first 2 months after the store opening, it was not uncommon for me to work 70 hour weeks because I could not find help from neighboring stores to fill the gaps in my schedule. I repeatedly asked my DM for assistance in filling my open management positions but received nothing from her. She was one of the most disorganized and overwhelmed DMs I have ever worked for. When I would call other stores to ask for help, they were unapologetically disinterested in helping a fellow store manager. There was no sense of community in my district. Every woman for herself it seems.
I left after 3 months of misery and have never looked back.
Wet seal is disorganized, and does not care about their employees. Once I quit, I contacted the head of Human Resources and the VP and no one seemed at all interest in hearing the grievances of an ex employee. They need to get it together and it is no wonder they have so much turn-over.
Worst retail experience ever.
Advice to Senior Management – Show some respect for your employees. Give new store managers the training they need.

I worked at Wet Seal
Pros – easy, repetitive work! Paper work consists or re- writing things over and over! very simple... Great employee discount! 40% !
Cons – Managers are responsible for everything! Cleaning, processing shipment, emails, fixing dents and painting walls, changing mannequins, marketing , visual, floor sets, dealing with random bull from corp. NOT A SMART COMPANY! they waste money left and right on stupid directives!!! The company over all is very dramatic!!! Everyone talks crap about everyone, and smiles to their face! the district directors are power hungry and want to advance... all they care about is looking good to their RM ( regional manager) they always slack and want you to pick up their slack
Advice to Senior Management – dont say anything! Dont trust anyone ! Focus on your own job and get through everyday! Make sure you follow procedures because it is very easy to get something pinned on you ! People Narc on you all the time, casually and behind your back! BE SMART and start looking for another job FAST lol

Pros – Ok discount, nice clothes, good music.
Cons – You only get promoted if you befriend the dm. If you do enough @ss kissing, then you'll get your own store or get moved into a higher volume store. Its without a doubt a "who you know" environment and if they want to get rid of anyone to plot someone else taking your spot, they'll "find" reasons to write you up in order to get you out. Its a catty cult like environment and I'd NEVER suggest working there. Its a disgusting, fake, cold place to be, especially when you put your heart and sweat into it and it doesn't matter unless you throw someone under the bus & "rat people out" to keep your own job.
Advice to Senior Management – Wake up and stop letting certain DM's who don't deserve their positon, walk around with starbucks all day, "run" a disgustingly fake, two faced, lets step on people who we don't personally like, and let "certain managers" get away with not meeting expectatins because we're friends, district. Its a complete circus. Open your eyes.

Pros – -The 40% discount was the only thing that was resonable. But even then, the clothes are ruined after a couple of wears.
Cons – -Managers play favorites. If you are not a favorite, be prepared to be stuck in the fitting rooms all day.
-THE PAY IS TERRIBLE! I have 5 years of retail experience and I got only 7.25 an hour! I had more experience than the managers.
-You hardly get any hours and if you are above the age of 18 you get "Call-In" hours, meaning that you don't know if you work until a hour before they need you.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't hire 20+ 16 year old girls. All you need is a few select employees that are of age and have retail experience. Then, we can get the pay and hours we need and your stores will be run better.

I worked at Wet Seal
Pros – Discount 40% (but you can only use it at the store you work at)
Easy sale demographic (teenage girls)
Cons – Everything
No Hours
Poor Pay
unless your management, plan on doing everythin on the sales floor by yourself (ringing, fitting rooms, help customers)
Advice to Senior Management – So many things I don't know where to start. Get better managers that know what they're doing and maybe that would help your store meet the ridiculous sales expectations you have
