    Love Working Here

    Sales Associate (Current Employee)

ProsLove all of the people that I work with, they make working there worth while. More hours during the winter.

ConsGrumpy customers every now and then -- no matter what customer service job you work, you have to deal with them though. Hours decrease during the summer (at least where I work they do)

This job was really fun and made me more outgoing as a person.

Sales Associate (Former Employee) Ashland, KY

    ProsReally nice atmosphere.
    Friendly coworkers.
    The 40% discount.
    Not a hard job.

ConsWorking with the public can be stressful and hard.
    The music was annoying sometimes.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not let the power get to your head. Yelling at your employees makes them dislike you and not want to work for you. Have fun and lighten up.

Fun place to work for an individual looking for entry-level work.

Seasonal Worker, Then Sales Representative (Current Employee) Riverside, CA

ProsHigh store energy, uniqueness, & great interaction with customers, 40% discount, fashion oriented store.

ConsThe location that I work at is too small for the amount of foot traffic the store gets.
Hours fluctuate. I've never been scheduled for more than 13 hours a week, which is fine when you're not living off your checks.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement sometimes compromises the sense of family it seem to want to create with inside jokes & gossip, as well as opting closer-knit bonds inside management. They also have no problems with hours, while sales reps bear the brunt of being over-staffed. On-calls are an inconvenient hassle (I call them maybe hours). I've been schedule for 40+ of them & have only been needed once. However management does care about its employees & work to improve performance.

Don't come here for security as a sales associate

    Sales Associate (Current Employee)

ProsCO-Workers, Flexibility with schedule, I was in college while working here and they would work with my schedule immensly

Consnot many hours to work, if not making sells to meet the payroll bracket they will have to cut back your shift.

A fast paced environment to grow in

    Store Manager (Current Employee)

ProsComplete flexibility in merchandising as long as the companies "vision" is upheld.
The company is constantly looking for areas to increase efficiency in.
Fairly streamlined store operations; much MUCH less paperwork than at other companies.
While payroll is at times limited, all corporate tasks run on a set schedule and high task volumes are communicated to stores before hand. Rare last-minute "surprises"
WetSeal truly believes in helping their customers. Customers come before tasks. No matter what deadline, what recovery, what shipment. Tasks will always be there, guests won't. Strong selling culture.

ConsAtrocious POS systems. Literally cheap Dell computers rigged with some buggy POS software. Stores started keeping BINDERS of "ticket numbers" from the "help" desk.
It is fast fashion so product is a "one and done" kind of deal. This leaves you with tons of "singles" and broken size runs which can make selling difficult at times.
Large stores and little payroll means recovery is a constant battle.
Loyalty program, the way it is constructed, has a negative impact on store KPIs when held at it's standard apps/trans %.
You get the feeling the company is pushing towards the wrong demographic at times.

Advice to Senior ManagementShare more about the company and it's direction to those at the store level. Less "filler" product that just clutters stores and moves to clearance.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
