    Pros

great pay, benefits, work environment is amazing and I am learning and growing everyday. Promote very quickly from within

    Cons

sometimes there is lackluster communication with upper management. Turn over is high, and with every new manager, there are very different opinions on how things should be done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take everything with a grain of salt. You ill never make everyone happy, but as long as you are happy with the work that you do, and the customers are happy with service and the quality of your store...the rest will all into place

I have been working at Wet Seal full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I was hired as a seasonal part time for the holidays in my hometown. After seasonal period ended I was asked to stay and hired as a part time sales associate. After a few months, I was accepted into college and the company offered to transfer me to my new city. Within a few weeks of working at the new location I was promoted to assistant manager. There is plenty of room for advancement if the individual works hard. Excellent training is provided and they truly stick to "hiring the best". Upper management is energetic, positive, and offer a lot of help and support. Wet Seal is a great place to learn and develop sales skills. The company offers a generous employee discount and is flexible with scheduling.

    Cons

Pay is low for Management considering the amount of work that is involved.
Overnight seal sets or visual merchandising,( little consideration if you have school the next morning).
Heavy Store Cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, bathroom cleaning duties are done by one person each day.
"on call" scheduling where you have to keep your availability open all day just in case they need you.
Very little hours for sales associates, if you live on your own and pay rent and bills you may need a second job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Eliminate "on call" scheduling for sales associates and hire one or two "on calls"

I have been working at Wet Seal part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great co-workers!! If you work hard enough it's easy to move up fast :). There is also a GREAT employee discount! It's more than what any other store offers its employees. You get to talk to customers the entire time, so you are constantly getting to make connections.

    Cons

Return policy. It's one of the only things we ever have trouble with. We enforce it, but we definitely lose customers over it sometimes. Another con is our sales associates don't care enough about the store, they just need a job, they don't necessarily want THIS job. We need more dedicated associates!
I'm a key-holder (part-time management) at my store, and I don't get bonus when we make our month. Or benefits, sick time, or vacation time. Even though I work 40+ hours most weeks. I do all the same work as any other manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More hours for tasking! Customers come first for all stores, and sometimes it's just plan too busy to get ANYTHING done! I feel like one way or another I get in trouble. Going over on payroll, or not getting everything done. Catch 22, really. We want to feel appreciated, and it's hard when either way we get in trouble.
