    Pros

Match 401k up to 5% and allocate another 3% regardless. Great communication. Values engagement and transparency. Can work from home. Encourages Healthy work-life balance

    Cons

Wages low, continuous improvement good but too much change, some processes not uniform (depends on whose asked), too heavily driven by numbers (metrics & speed)

    Advice to Management

Recognize soft skills as equally as important as speed

    Pros

The number of women you get to talk too. A lot of overtime, and the benefits are outstanding. Money after you been there a couple of years.

    Cons

2nd shift work, no family time. Shut downs and layoff once in awhile. Not a lot of the to catch some rest. Its go go go.

    Advice to Management

I would rewrite the union contract. Start jobs off at 16 an you will not have the huge turn over rate. An to have the maxed pay go up as well. And longer breaks. 9 mins just is not enough

    Pros

Great place to build experience. The company offer high quality training classes for engineers.
Six sigma, Modularity, Tolerance stacks, Geometric tolerances, and many more.

    Cons

The role of each person might not be clear. Some managers act like Lead engineers, some Product designers act like engineer. The structure is not very well organized.

    Advice to Management

Better define the role of your people. If you don't think they will be able to accomplish what they were supposed to do it means that you haven't done a good job.

    Pros

    Top competitor in industry
    Strong focus on talent development

    Cons

    Location (Benton Harbor, MI)
Large company makes it difficult to move up if you are not the top 1% of talent

    Advice to Management

    Embrace more diversity of thought

    Pros

Great training for Managers. In process of undergoing a major update of their facilities in Benton Harbor. Very nice environment to work in. Culture is very family friendly and it is possible to have a good work / life balance. Values and leadership model are embedded in everything people do. Many opportunities to work globally and across functions.

    Cons

Not many other large companies in the immediate area. Career advancement can be a bit slow unless you aggressively pursue opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Have a more defined career ladder and job descriptions. Sometimes it is difficult to know what experience is needed to move up or across functions or how decisions are made to fill those roles.

  7. Has good areas to work in and bad areas, like most companies. You can move around to find your place if you are patient

    Pros

Lots of areas to work in engineering, like design, labs, technology, etc. Also can make lateral moves through several product categories.

    Cons

Medical plan is expensive and complicated to maneuver if you want to get the most out of it.
Some areas really have poor leadership with no good long term plans, but at least you can move around to other areas.

    Advice to Management

Think longer term, figure out what the customer wants/needs 5 years from now so we can beat the competition, instead of matching what they have in the market today and staying behind them.

    Pros

Solid benefit, OK if you are an engineer isolated from Marketing. They have some very cool products in the consumer goods space. Work like is well managed. Not many people work late.

    Cons

Very relationship driven company. You will need to invest in your work relationships as much as technical delivery. At times, the relationship investment matters more than actual technical knowledge. The typical marketing teams are *very* short sighted and reactionary.

    Advice to Management

Start holding the marketing teams accountable to long range plans and the research that is needed to development the plans. Way too much seat of the pants planning - but it gets sold based on the charisma of the marketing director.

    Pros

The skills acquired including customer service and communication were a great addition to my resume. Overall, a good experience for someone needing experience.

    Cons

Too micromanaged for my liking. Every single second was observed and timed including breaks and lunch. All was recorded on the computer.

    Advice to Management

Find a different way to manage breaks and time away from the phones. It is both stressful and unnecessary to manage workers like that.
