    Pros

great approach to customers and staff, good discounts and benefits, opportunities to move across the country with the company. great ideas and new systems put in place to improve service.

    Cons

very high pressure to deliver targets with too short time scales. too many discounts and offers sent to customers, never enough budget for repairs and maintenance, working with broken equipment is the standard, focus on people seams to be fading as focus on profit rises. too old systems like micros that needs updating as soon as possible but company is not willing to invest money in to it. Stop giving out free money to customers because they complained as seams that customers are finding any stupid reason just to get free money out of the company. stop looking at trip adviser as this is genuine complaint website. people in general like to complaint just to get free money and with whitbread restaurants seams to be a pattern "lets go to brewers fayre or beefeater, as we will get free food

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

start investing in right systems and actually speak to lover management to see whats needed in sites rather than listening to F&B team and people that worked in restaurant years ago, be more realistic bout the targets and give the time for mangers to complete the tasks as too much to do in the office but never enough time or hours to achieve what asked for

    Pros

I love the people i work with, and seeing regular customers every weekend.

    Cons

Their is no communication between kitchen and FOH, and I clean areas that become messy the next day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Their needs to be a better understanding of what is required to work in kitchen and FOH, so that communication is stronger. The whole building needs to be kept clean at all times, and every weekend I work, i try and do a deep clean of as much of the building as I can, but I come in the next weekend to see that no one has respected it and have made it messy again.

    Pros

I work with some awesome people, they are the only thing that keeps me sane in this heat filled, artificial light filled box, Whitbread like to call a kitchen.

    Cons

I have worked in the company for over 5 and a half years, I have been on minimum wage since starting. I work in the kitchen, I am able to do every single role, I even started on the bar just to get my experience up. Do I get a pay rise, no. I don't even get tips because I work in the kitchen, I am on the same wage as front of house staff, but they get tips. They change the menu every couple of months, because the people in head office who have never worked a day in a restaurant think their ideas are fantastic, but when they launch they sink faster than the Titanic. They expect us to do even more, work even harder than we already are, without giving us any incentive to work harder. We are heavily understaffed ALL the time, and then the manager wonders why we get bad reviews. We are constantly being told that we have no hours to spend, so we can't have any more staff in, yet they employ more people and cut everyones hours down. Our general manager works two days a week, and then moans about how nothing is getting done (WHEN IT IS! He just doesn't see it because he's never there!)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your staff, the majority have worked there a hell of a long time and tend to know alot more than you think, you might be able to learn to something or get better results if you actually listened.

    Pros

Seen many people progress through the company internally.

    Cons

Management sometimes lacking in supporting a bar team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Equality with shifts. All staff should be rotated around the Rota; instead of bar staff given consistently longer shifts with less tips.

    Current Employee - Waiter
    Current Employee - Waiter

    Pros

well, really difficult to find any. only one thing may be positive if your work as waiter/waitress - tips, otherwise well underpaid job for work you doing.

    Cons

staff meals/drinks - paid, unpaid breaks (it doesnt matter if you take one or not, till system will clock you out autoamticlly after 6 hours, for UNPAID 30 min) , loads of responsibilities (upselling, upsizing, cleaning, advertising, brand standard) for min wage, company doesnt care about their own workers, any good ideas how to improve your working place are ignored, the worst company i ve ever worked for!! No loyality to company, staff demotivated, no benefits to be a part of whitbread whatsoever,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

put more focus on yours staff not on the figuers - we are human not robots, appraciate our hard work,

Friendly people, relaxed and informal working environment, great benefits package with competitive bonus and Sharesave schemes. Great variety of brands to work with and progression across the company is actively encouraged

    Cons

Location of Head Office is difficult to reach by public transport and being in the middle of an industrial estate means it is not easy to get to shops etc at lunchtime
