I have been working at Whole Foods Market full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Many opportunities to move within departments and up in departments. Great benefits; health insurance, gain sharing, stock options, vacation hours, etc. Great to work in company supporting ethical agriculture and treatment of animals.

    Cons

Constant push for team members to move up in status. Some team members are good in their position and would be best to stay. Would help create solid teams.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better coordination with vendors, supply, and sale promotions. Often items promoted as sale and then out of stock almost immediately.....customers not happy but do accept rainchecks.

I worked at Whole Foods Market

    Pros

In the smaller teams there is a real camaraderie among team members and the employee discount is significant enough to take the bite out of higher priced items. Most customers are pleasant and interactions with them can be interesting and, occasionally, hilarious.

    Cons

It's retail. You're schedule can change from week to week, starting pay is very low, and there is at least one overly entitled and whiney customer a day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the gain sharing and incentives for positive customer feedback and keep the unions out.

I have been working at Whole Foods Market part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Whole Foods market has a strong system of core values and missions. I learn many effective ways to handle customers and developed a great sales attitude from the company. There is a lot of room for grow with Whole Foods. It can also serve as a beginning point to a healthy career.

    Cons

The leadership in training program seems to fail those already employed with the company. I think that current employees should be able to have a fair chance for leadership positions. however the L.I.T program limits that at times.
