ProsSporting and betting environment, some customers

ConsSalary awful. Support and feed back from upper level staff only visible when communication is down to you, never listen to ideas. Lack of support. Unable to manage at local level. Awful hours and home/work life balance. Threat of violence never far away.

Advice to Senior ManagementNot that anyone will take any notice. Listen to your staff. Staff moral is very low. Most employees do not bother with your engagement survey as they feel nothing will change. Crack down on your support functions, repairs etc, they are a serious source of frustration. Open a channel of discussion that skips past middle management.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at William Hill full-time for more than a year

ProsNormally colleagues are friendly, co-operative. career opportunity is good,if you work hard. Some managers are really helpful. Working strategy is good.

ConsStaffing is bad, sometime old staff makes the staffing according to their conveniance. New workers have to run pillar to post, moves to other shops very frequently. New staffs do not get weekends off. Force to work over-time. If somebody has taken sick, normally forced to do much more extra hours. even if the staff has already worked this allocated hours.

Advice to Senior Managementpleas communicate with the staffs more regularly. the staffing should be done fairly. The staffs has their personal life and commitments. Do not push them to do more hours. And please increase the hourly rate for the CSA and cashier, we need to do a lot of extra work and journey.

Current Employee – been working at William Hill

ProsIt has a good training programme. Late starts if you are a cashier. Normally 1pm-1:30pm.
Some of the staff are fantastic-they would do anything for you.

ConsRubbish pay. High level managent too wishy washy and let lower level staff get away with murder. The staff that do work their backsides off get no thanks or recognition from anyone. Lots of people let the side down.
New pay structures are coming into effect in January and even the high level shops are going to be taking a 3k pay drop. What person can afford to do that??

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a back bone and learn how to manage lower level staff efficently.
