I have been working at Williams-Sonoma full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Mostly great people; fantastic discount; recognition from senior management when you perform well; innovative;.

    Cons

Change can come slowly depending on the department you work in. As large as the company is, it can't be as nimble as it needs to be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out in the field more often. Front line workers often have the best perspective - pay attention to what they have to say.

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

The atmosphere is wonderful, the full-time staff are all amazing, helpful, patient, and kind.
Perks: Hot Chocolate and Peppermint Bark samples galore, and the best Christmas playlist around.

    Cons

Even with my (fabulous) discount, it's still expensive

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it up! For instance, there were several corporate employees who worked in the Post Street Flagship store today side by side with seasonal and full-time staff.

    Change Is Sometimes Not Good

    I worked at Williams-Sonoma full-time

    Pros

Over several years, enjoyed the established and responsible practices in the finance area. The comradery and ability to handle pressured situations says a lot about the capabilities of the group.

    Cons

As management changed over the last few years, the ability to provide guidance and consistency to a professional staff has deteriorated. Have some backbone, and stand up to senior management when pressured to veer off course.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Run the company as a professional publicly traded corporation, and don't bow to the day to day sales pressures to suit the current retail merchant led organization.
