I have been working at Wilton Brands

    Pros

40 % off on the wilton website products and tuition at the wilton school.

    Cons

You are treated as an independent contractor so you get paid once a month. Too much paperwork

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer to pay commissions for products sold by and watch products flyoff the shelfs

I have been working at Wilton Brands full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

You are empowered to be a leader.

    Cons

This is a sink or swim environment. If you are not self motivated you will not do well….Very little training.

I worked at Wilton Brands full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Learned a lot about the full cycle of business and product development. Good place to push and develop skills. Was giving the reins.

    Cons

Difficult to incorporate new ideas, Wilton can be stuck in their ways. They have had a hard time retaining good talent and keeping up with the changing times of the work environment. Plans can change on a dime, often due to poor preliminary planning, resulting in lots of wasted time. Can be hard to focus with lots of projects simultaneously being juggled at once.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to balance quality more, rather than quantity.

I have been working at Wilton Brands as a contractor (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Independent Contractors set their own schedule
    Marketing is provided by Wilton

    Cons

Pay is low, most WMI's teach because they love to teach, not because they are paid well.

I have been working at Wilton Brands

    Pros

Supportive management, increasing career opportunities for those who work hard, half-day Fridays during the summer, a growing understanding for the digital space.

    Cons

Projects are done on increasingly short deadlines, some of which suffer as a result. Can't help but wonder often how much better a product could have been if adequate time had been given to develop it, rather than fixing it in the aftermath.

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Wilton Brands as a contractor (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The products are fun to promote. Lots of test kitchen "mistakes" to enjoy.

    Cons

    Very cliquish & high school-ish.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perhaps listen to the customers and workers, not to your own narrow minded ideas.

    Pros

Very creative and fun workplace. Casual environment with friendly co-workers. Good work/life balance.

I have been working at Wilton Brands full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good salary and people that work there are great people. Lots of energy to be creative and share ideas.

    Cons

Very political to move up in the organization, not a clear career path to follow. Old school management style and HQ has dated facilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend some time on the ground floor and walk around to see what is going on. Ask for more honest feedback and empower the entry workers to want to have a career.

    I worked at Wilton Brands

    Pros

Great brand, awesome tent sale, HR team was good, great move package (at least it was before venture capital owned them), excellent distribution system, technologically advanced.

    Cons

Division was shut down due to competition from China, and direct outsourcing by our customers. Brand is good but the venture capatilists rolling it all together and leveraging that much debt into one company can't be good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on employees is good but always can be better - don't forget about management trainee programs and bringing in young stars that make for future contributors.

    No opinion of CEO
