I worked at Windstream full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good stock, benefits are pretty good, local team was quality and gave a small company feel to some aspects of the job. The earning potential in sales is good for not requiring a Bachelor's .

    Cons

Siloed organization with conflicting departmental goals that are pushed down from executives who strive to please the stockholders, not the end user of the services they provide. They have a tendency to make a liar of you as an Account Executive. Telecom is generally problematic in that regard.

    Advice to Management

Control your product/service quality and improve it continuously. Don't have members of a community make promises your organization can't keep. Flatten your network and invest the money it will take to deliver the level of service you advertise. Oh and revenue could improve more if you'd take better care of current customers to stop the churn, but that does take investing in more account managers...

    Pros

Sales Directors are pro active in developing new employees. Sales engineers are helpful by making joint sales calls with sales reps.

    Cons

Company would benefit by helping new sales reps develop lead sources which is critical to establishing a pipeline of prospective customers. The sales cycle can be long (8-9 months in some cases) for a solution to be implemented.

    Advice to Management

Work hands on with new sales reps to establish leads so more time can be spent setting appointments instead of researching companies and contact names to develop a list.
