Not a bad place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Wilmington, MA

ProsFocus on employee retention, promote from within, management all the way up to CEO's are approachable and accessible.

ConsCommunication can be an issue, pay doesn't always seem fair, double standards with some managers and supervisors, not all departments are always treated equally which can make people feel undervalued.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove communication between departments, model the behavior that you want your direct reports to display - "do as I say, not as I do" doesn't work well.

    Villa Division

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThis is a great division of the company with on going presence in the marketplace to help consumers book the perfect villa. Opportunity is there to grow with the right people in place, which they need more of.

ConsLeadership is shaky. You are told to provide feedback and give your opinion on how things should work. You do so and the opposite happens. Decent product line, but I think the product is duplicated quite often and there is way too much on the site and very hard to keep up the constant changes within the villa market. The relationship with the suppliers needs to be stronger and viable. Not enough people in product to keep up with the trends, changes and ever growing villa market. Managers need more training on how to speak to staff and suppliers.

Advice to Senior ManagementBuild up the sales team and fast! Look at expanding support for product. There is great talent within WTH. The current management in place is so-so.

    Customer Care Representative

    Customer Care Representative (Current Employee)
    Orlando, FL

ProsTravel Benefits, they will train you, meet awesome people. They value volunteering, they support Make A Wish, good medical/dental benefits, can work from home.

ConsManagement gets bright ideas that don't work but is too prideful to admit they made a mistake.

    Advice to Senior ManagementSee above.

A good choice for the right individual.

    Travel Pro (Former Employee)
    Virginia Beach, VA

ProsThey do what they say and deliver what they promise and are very clear on expectations if people pay attention. WTH has the potential to be a great place to work. What could be better than work at home in the travel industry? As one would expect with remote locations, they have a lot of tech issues. Their tech department is top notch and can get you back up and running in no time.

ConsI was hired at least two month before the start date. I asked if there is anything that I can do to prepare and was told no. I was new to the travel industry and was eager to learn. So much could have been reviewed, and I would have, if focused and given guidance. Training is a 3 month college course crammed into a few weeks. I gladly did a lot of work outside of the paid hours but it was not enough. I felt the trainers quickly wrote off individuals they felt would not make the cut. I got a feeling that all the smiles and encouragement were not genuine, but they are in the sales industry so you cannot hold that against them.

Advice to Senior ManagementYour hiring and training process cannot be inexpensive. You system must work or you would not conduct business in that manner. Were it my company, I would concentrate on screening potential and fully developing that talent. The position offered really can be a long term, rewarding career choice. That was my plan. All I needed and asked for but did not receive was more phone guidance when I went live. But that goes back to my earlier comment, “I felt the trainers quickly wrote off individuals they felt would not make the cut.”

Great Travel company to work for

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Fort Lauderdale, FL

ProsThe people are great to work with. I was allowed the freedom to do my work without a supervisor constantly watching me.

ConsI think the outlook of the travel industry is slowly declining. The pay was alright. I enjoyed my job but I wish there was a little more upward mobility.

Advice to Senior ManagementI believe that the senior management cares and trying their best.

    a very positive working experience

    Customer Care Representative (Current Employee)
    Altamonte Springs, FL

Prosteam support is commendable, there is someone either close by or a phone call away who is more than willing to assist regardless of the situation or what position you are in. its a growing thriving solid and innovative company with sound leadership

Consthey never close be prepared to work unplanned overtime holidays depending on call volume and scheduling needs. Its an industry that is constantly changing if you don't adjust well to change its not the job for you. The insurance plan needs to be revised while the carriers for health dental vision even short term disability 401k are all great the structure of the plan itself is not. Annual deductibles are to high. They need a plan like PPO with copay and no annual deductible or to at least offer it in the selections available

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed more versatile positions cross over training in other departments so everyone has opportunity to learn more about the other positions and the company as a whole

    Great Work at Home Career

    Travel Consultant (Current Employee)
    Orlando, FL

ProsThe company is mostly comprised of virtual sales agents and working at home is a great perk. They provide all the equipment and the training is comprehensive and on going

ConsThe virtual environment can leave you feeling detached. The industry is seasonal and the pay is 100% commission so the slower seasons can be pretty brutal and if anything happens in the cruise industry to slow sales (Like a ship capsizing 1/2012) then the netire busy season can disappear making it an incredibly slow year.

Advice to Senior ManagementRestructure the commission program to account for the slower seasons. Restructure the way consultants are promoted to expert and senior expert and revise the way that CCR reps are able to take a sale away from a travel pro.

    Good long term company

    Software Manager (Current Employee)
    Boston, MA

ProsGood work life balance, upper management gives sufficient space to employees to decide/perform

ConsIndustry is not fast growing and it's hard for a company to grow much faster than the industry. Limited growth leads to limited opportunities.

Advice to Senior ManagementCome up with ways to lead employees multitask.
