Current Employee – been working at World Travel Holdings full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Travel Benefits, they will train you, meet awesome people. They value volunteering, they support Make A Wish, good medical/dental benefits, can work from home.
Cons – Management gets bright ideas that don't work but is too prideful to admit they made a mistake.
Advice to Senior Management – See above.

Former Employee – worked at World Travel Holdings full-time for less than a year
Pros – They do what they say and deliver what they promise and are very clear on expectations if people pay attention. WTH has the potential to be a great place to work. What could be better than work at home in the travel industry? As one would expect with remote locations, they have a lot of tech issues. Their tech department is top notch and can get you back up and running in no time.
Cons – I was hired at least two month before the start date. I asked if there is anything that I can do to prepare and was told no. I was new to the travel industry and was eager to learn. So much could have been reviewed, and I would have, if focused and given guidance. Training is a 3 month college course crammed into a few weeks. I gladly did a lot of work outside of the paid hours but it was not enough. I felt the trainers quickly wrote off individuals they felt would not make the cut. I got a feeling that all the smiles and encouragement were not genuine, but they are in the sales industry so you cannot hold that against them.
Advice to Senior Management – Your hiring and training process cannot be inexpensive. You system must work or you would not conduct business in that manner. Were it my company, I would concentrate on screening potential and fully developing that talent. The position offered really can be a long term, rewarding career choice. That was my plan. All I needed and asked for but did not receive was more phone guidance when I went live. But that goes back to my earlier comment, “I felt the trainers quickly wrote off individuals they felt would not make the cut.”

Former Employee – worked at World Travel Holdings full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – The people are great to work with. I was allowed the freedom to do my work without a supervisor constantly watching me.
Cons – I think the outlook of the travel industry is slowly declining. The pay was alright. I enjoyed my job but I wish there was a little more upward mobility.
Advice to Senior Management – I believe that the senior management cares and trying their best.

Current Employee – been working at World Travel Holdings full-time for more than a year
Pros – team support is commendable, there is someone either close by or a phone call away who is more than willing to assist regardless of the situation or what position you are in. its a growing thriving solid and innovative company with sound leadership
Cons – they never close be prepared to work unplanned overtime holidays depending on call volume and scheduling needs. Its an industry that is constantly changing if you don't adjust well to change its not the job for you. The insurance plan needs to be revised while the carriers for health dental vision even short term disability 401k are all great the structure of the plan itself is not. Annual deductibles are to high. They need a plan like PPO with copay and no annual deductible or to at least offer it in the selections available
Advice to Senior Management – Need more versatile positions cross over training in other departments so everyone has opportunity to learn more about the other positions and the company as a whole

Current Employee – been working at World Travel Holdings full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The company is mostly comprised of virtual sales agents and working at home is a great perk. They provide all the equipment and the training is comprehensive and on going
Cons – The virtual environment can leave you feeling detached. The industry is seasonal and the pay is 100% commission so the slower seasons can be pretty brutal and if anything happens in the cruise industry to slow sales (Like a ship capsizing 1/2012) then the netire busy season can disappear making it an incredibly slow year.
Advice to Senior Management – Restructure the commission program to account for the slower seasons. Restructure the way consultants are promoted to expert and senior expert and revise the way that CCR reps are able to take a sale away from a travel pro.

Current Employee – been working at World Travel Holdings
Pros – Good work life balance, upper management gives sufficient space to employees to decide/perform
Cons – Industry is not fast growing and it's hard for a company to grow much faster than the industry. Limited growth leads to limited opportunities.
Advice to Senior Management – Come up with ways to lead employees multitask.

Pros – It is a great company to work. It is a solid company, even threw the recent economic times. Even though it was hard for the company to ask all except employees to take a 2 week furlough, WTH also provide a way for each employee to earn the money back. The company did their best making sure front line employees were not impacted. Definitely has some smart people that are enjoyable to work with - thumbs up here! As with most companies, there are issues. However overall it is a great company to work.
WTH does try to provide a balance between your needs and the needs of the business. Working for a Travel Company that is open 365 days a year 7 days a week, there will always be employees that are not happy. Which is very confusing to me because all the information regarding operational hours are discussed in detail during the interview process. Did they think they were above the law? I completed understood that I would be low in terms of seniority. In a sales or service environment you have to actual perform and be a team player.
It you are a hard worker, like working with good people and are able to see opportunity you will do well here. If you spend most of your time thinking it's about being the bosses’ pet and complaining you won't like it here.
Cons – Recently they have employeed to many "you owe me" people. What happen to actually working towards respect and maybe opporunties would come their way.
Advice to Senior Management – The management team can be too reactive at times. There are company changes that occur every 6 months. This can be very hard on people to adjust too.

Pros – Smart group of folks - passionate about travel. Organization cares about the needs of it's employees and is very fair in how and what it communicates about the state of the business on a regular basis - even and especially in times of economic uncertainty. Note - a new management team took over in 2006, however, many key execs are still part of the team.
Cons – Not as nimble as it could be - needs to be more of a leader in the only user experience of how it sells it's products
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to be relentlessly focused on results and improvement through every area of the business.
