I worked at Wynn Resorts full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Well-established brand. Got many job offers elsewhere after having Wynn on my resume and deservedly so. Wynn truly is the epitome of 5-star/5-diamond standards and they make their employees learn and execute it every day. Great Employee Dining Room, excellent medical benefits, true pride to say where you work, sexy business cards. Director in my department was excellent. Andrew Pascal was the best President until he bailed in 2010.

    Cons

After Pascal left, battled another 3 years under his successor (who will not be named) and couldn't stay any longer. Operations and quality took a painful nosedive, new management was brought in with no actual management skills, some departments dissolved and their work thrown on other departments' shoulders with no raise. Basically, they lost all their best C-Suiters that made that hotel 5-star in the first place, then brought in young hot shots who know nothing but were willing to work for less. Still giving this place high marks for two reasons:

    1. I hear Maurice W., a Day One-er, is now President. Good riddance to his predecessor.
    2. At the end of the day Wynn and Encore (alongside Bellagio and Aria) are the best casino hotels in the world and everyone knows it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

C-Suiters, listen to your middle management. They are the middle men between you and the front line employees. Their voices matter! Oh and bring back Sugar & Ice!!!

I worked at Wynn Resorts part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazing employee only area underneath the casino with free meal that offers TONS of choices, dry cleaning of uniform and little store that offers discounted stuff from upstairs. Steve Wynn is really an amazing businessman as well!

    Cons

Management leaves much to be desired. As everyone stated it's about who you know and has nothing to do with your qualifications. One of my managers was one of the most arrogant and belittling person I have ever met. He was reported numerous times to HR and nothing, the main reason I left, I couldn't stand seeing his face everyday.

I have been working at Wynn Resorts part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Free meal, beautiful resort, high clientele list and high volume (for the most part).

    Cons

Lowest Union paying positions on the strip, Wynn Employee garage is a headache, lots of pressure (depending where you work) due to constantly being shopped. Management has a lot of snitches and back-stabbers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Even if you assume someone is not doing the right thing, put our faith on them and they will eventually see that and do the right thing.

I have been working at Wynn Resorts full-time

    Pros

There is a reason Wynn Resorts consistently maintains 5 stars, its the level of service and behind that are people. The pro is you are truly able to learn from the best in the business, Individuals who have been hand selected for their skill level and absolute dedication to their industry. There is so much to be learned from such different management styles that all have one thing in common, guest satisfaction.

    Cons

There is a lot of 'red tape' to go through to get something done that falls outside of Policy and Procedure which limits empowerment. There is no room for error which is understandable, however, it can also create uneasiness among employees and instead of owning mistakes and seeking out guidance it cultivates a certain amount fear in employees(especially line level) and an unwillingness to own their actions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower and cultivate employees, employees who can seek guidance without difficulty will help create a more cohesive team.

    Pros

This is a great company to work for. Great work environment and the tools put in place to help you with your development is something I never experienced before. The company truly does their best to set you up for success. You just have to put forth the effort.

    Cons

Their are some strong personalities you have to deal with. Once you prove yourself you may or may not be accepted by these people. Job performance is not the key factor in building a career. It is more about relationships.
