I have been working at Xerox

    Pros

    Decent hourly pay
    Insurance / benefits
    People are friendly

    Cons

Training was a complete nightmare. No computers until our QC week. Last minute changes all the time
Tons of powerPoints for training = boring
Very limited PC / hands on practice
Huge Lack of communication. Example my supervisor and HR solutions NEVER returned any of my emails in my first 4 weeks in the job?
They throw production goals at you but never follow up on your success or need for improvement?
Management is not in the same page about anything
Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) all give you different answers when asking for help

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop over hiring and show interest in the employees that work hard and show up to work.
Start hiring professionals with strong work ethic

I have been working at Xerox full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, plenty of hours, paid training, benefits

    Cons

Mandatory overtime means no personal life, incredibly repetitive, it gets boring fast

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be more floor support. It hurts confidence when a rep needs help only for the supervisor to be impatient because they have to many responsibilities elsewhere.

    I worked at Xerox

    Pros

Good benefits but you do not get your vacation time when you leave yet you are too busy to use It when you are working.

    Cons

No managerial support. Your manager will not support you if that is needed forget about it. When you do the right thing because it's the right thing to do, if it wasn't your manager's idea, your manager will steal the idea from you and you will not get any credit. Very little to no feedback given to employees.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I've learned a lot of useful skills, but only through my own efforts and tenacity - the organization offers very little meaningful training or assistance.

    Cons

Virtually no support or training for a position that demands an intricate knowledge of a very complicated process. In the end, the individual employee is not respected or appreciated by management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer experienced, productive employees some incentive (better pay $), focus more on actual productivity and less on meaningless "metrics", and you might actually accomplish something meaningful and lasting.

I worked at Xerox full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Working for my direct manager was the best part of working at Xerox. He was an excellent manager.

    Cons

The company doesn't think of long term investments in their employees. Their strategy is to continually lay off good employees in order to cut costs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on long terms investments instead of just cutting costs. It appears that the only strategy is to continually offshore US jobs.

I worked at Xerox full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Work from home, pay was competitive.

    Cons

Complete lack of strategy and leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While it is too late in this case (division sold off at a loss), perhaps leveraging core capabilities and business operations for any new acquisitions. Where is the innovation and vision that changed the world of technology so many years ago?

I worked at Xerox full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It was a great place to learn the basics of technical support. Good stepping stone to Help Desk or entry level IT role at a better company. Co workers can be fun to work with.

    Cons

    Feel like a number.
    Poor Management.
    Mistreatment of employees.
    Poor pay rate.
    Even worse health benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show some appreciation for the employees on the front line because without them you would be without a job.

I have been working at Xerox as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

It's easy to get hired, they hire ex-cons and everyone else in between.

    Cons

The training that is promised leaves much to be desired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Those in management could learn a great deal from their subordinates regarding protocol (the company lacks in providing adequate training, misses the mark in administering disciplinary actions in a professional manner, doesn't process pay increases in a timely manner and violates an appropriate dress code).

I have been working at Xerox full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible, can work from home. Medical plan is good and coverage is good. Peers in the filed are some of the most dedicated people to work with.

    Cons

For existing employees compensation is terrible. Pay raises/bonuses are few and far between. New hires will be given 30% more to do the same job. Pay is great on entry, but know that your pay raises/bonuses will be small and infrequent. You will be told to take a week with no pay to help the bottom line. Then at the end of the year C-Level gets million dollar bonuses. This happened to many of the mid-level managers two years in a row.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop with the motivational messages from on high. People don't even read them. The words look great on paper, but lack follow through. Seriously, it's the people in the field that are doing hard, dedicated work - you need to take care of them (just like you take care of yourself). Loyalty and sacrifice by the people in the field deserves a meaningful response from leadership - not just empty messaging.
