I worked at Xerox full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Supports virtual work
Health plans of high quality and good value
Finds excellent client facing billable employees

    Cons

    No work life balance.
Complete home office expense born by employee
Supervisors/managers do not have functional knowledge of work being sold to clients
While the management structure has been flattened, there is still too much (managerial/support) overhead (80+% of bill rate to client)
ACS/Xerox Learning Services is moving away from Learning Consulting [which they were good at] to Staff Augmentation [which they are not good at]

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start cutting the accounting management and staff. They have created a condition within Xerox where it is impossible to argue with spreadsheets, no matter how inane of insane the rationale would be when applying an 'average person' standard to the outcomes of the decisions.

The company is using metrics and analytic for decision making that is detrimental to the source of their income, the billable employee. It is creating a demand for non-billable employees (overhead) to further find cost savings that result in the elimination of the local billable resource in lieu of an off-shore resource, but no real reduction in the managerial/support structure.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Steady work/paycheck. They did at last re-instate company 401k match @3%

    Cons

lower wages than industry averages, people on the ACS Side have gone 5-10 years without any raise what so ever (unless you are management). This is not controlled locally. Offshoring is going crazy. Many issues stem from customer pricing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Xerox full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Unlimted overtime, full time job, set schedule, healthcare and other benefits, good coworkers.

This is a good job and something you can make a living off of. After training they are very understanding of when you need time off, so long as you are doing good they will let a lot slide. Also there is a lot you can move up and do however you will still have to take some calls. Around six months is what they look for, for folks wanted to get promoted.

    Cons

Short staffed when it comes to supervisors, what you make is based off surveys and average call time.

This is a very draining job and the first few weeks after training are the hardest. That is when you will still be trying to find stuff and it might take while to locate things while you have a customer impatiently waiting on the phone. Also, not every call is bad and if you are nice to the customer they will be nice to you or at least try to be. However you will deal with some people that just can't be helped and will be very angry, if you want to do this job you need thick skin. If you can handle all that you should be good to go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please have more supervisors and floor support.

I worked at Xerox full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Strong brand support and growth orientation. Experienced large information services firm. I worked for a recently acquired small eLearning company where Xerox name attracted major new clients and imposed some new restrictions. Wellness benefits generous, overall benefits options good but rapidly eroding. No sign of Xerox executive influence in day to day operations outside of HR during my short tenure. Clients appreciated the high level of individual support.

    Cons

Functional local managers trying to adapt to a matrix organization model is stressful. Xerox corporate HR policy and stated work-life goals were misstated or abused. My job description was very different from the actual duties as each manager envisions my role. Zero training, no documentation of software or organized online resources, and the office runs on email threads and tedious meeting minutes. Some office management turnover is planned with the continuing integration into evolving Xerox division (HIM services).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use your own LCMS product to document processes, roles, policies, and organize training and support new hires.

I worked at Xerox full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Easy to move up in company if you are a hard worker, good support while in production, decent pay

    Cons

Very large company so interactions are very cold, they hire pretty much anyone, mandatory overtime

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise pay rate and pay more attention to who you're hiring, Have a more welcoming environment. Overtime should be offered to those who are interested and should not be a mandatory thing.

I have been working at Xerox full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The training program is great at Xerox for learning basic sales skills. Once you are trained, Xerox does have a number of great sales and marketing tools to help you be successful.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the company is working thru a re-organization right now and so employees are very concerned with the future. It appears that the company is making large changes that could possible results in lay-offs.
