    Pros

Great Benefits and good company structure within the company except some departments.

    Cons

Too political. People that work hard and long are hours are not rewarded. Management just lines their own pockets.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of managers that don't manage well.

    Pros

Good benefits/compensation, cool technology, good location

    Cons

"Do more with Less" is status quo. Competitive environment fosters distrust. The "Old Boy" network is very much in play, and it's not what you know it's who's on your side. Still moving entire operations offshore (India mainly), meaning whole teams getting axed for larger, cheaper teams in India. You can NOT trust management, because they don't trust you.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees. If you're moving a team offshore, talk to the team that's losing their positions. It worked when Operations moved to Singapore, but you refuse to trust long-time employees will work with you on a transition.

    Pros

It was a company that was growing with lots of money in the bank, and was aggressively going after market share. FPGA is an in-demand product. Good customer support.

    Cons

After Moshe Gavrielov became the CEO, Xilinx ceased to care about its employees. There were many layoffs, whereas with the former CEO, there were none. It became an unhealthy competitive environment pitting employee against employee.

    Advice to Management

You don't need to create an environment of fear in order to motivate your employees.

    Pros

The technology is amazing, there are many challenges to face. They have good benefits, the stock purchase plan is excellent.

    Cons

My boss was actually angry with me for doing something that would help the whole software group, because it was not on my goals. Goals are more important than productivity or innovation. They are cutting down on the ability to work from home, they want to be able to monitor you better.

    Advice to Management

Consider the message you send with your endless paper pushing. Xilinx was once the leader in innovation. You can't fit innovation and your dead "measurable goals" into the same company. I was laid off, and I am VERY glad to be out. Unemployed is better than working at Xilinx!

    Pros

    Fair pay and good benefits

    Cons

People don’t count, very political and exclusive, no loyalty everyone is trying to climb the corporate ladder and stepping on any one they can. Executive management is arrogant and that trickles down to middle management.

    Pros

GREAT PEOPLE! Small team, challenging, hands on, collaboration is good, focussed on revenue

    Cons

HR and MGMT squeezing employees too much for costs/EPS! Very tactical, too short term focused, performance does not get reflected accurately in reviews, too much CYA as there is very heavy upper management involvement and intervention in tactical and strategic actions.

    Advice to Management

Start valuing employees more, leave the functions to their job without intervening at every level

    Pros

Xilinx is a leader in their industry leader. They are almost always the first to market with whatever technology they are creating. Programmable logic is a very cool class of product and having the opportunity to spend virtually my entire career with it has been a treat.

    Cons

They went from being employee focused to being results at all possible costs focused. So while they've established a fairly substantial leadership position for at least the near-term, it's been at the expense of good people leaving or getting laid off.

    Pros

Leading edge tech... That's about it!

    Cons

Pure bottom line focus. Consideration of past relationships and future ones are out of vogue. Sad.

    Advice to Management

    1. Don't forget what made Xilinx a success. Don't "deal" with your customers and employees, embrace and appreciate them. 2. No one trusts you any more. Not your customers, your prospects, your distributors or your employees. Unfortunately, I'm not management really cares as they're just following the board's incentives so... 3. The board should incent the next senior management team more wisely and broadly. There is more to the health of a company than it's current stock value. If you can't get people to want to work for you and want buy from you, what you have is people waiting for alternative options that they'll take them as soon as they can.

Great company to work for. The technology is innovating and interesting. Company has a lot of potential and will continue to grow.
