Xilinx is, with a few exceptions, a pretty well run and staffed company.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
San Jose, CA

I worked at Xilinx full-time for more than 10 years

ProsXilinx appears to have a good position in the market and has consistently been profitable. Benefits are good: health, retirement, ESPP, etc. Cooperation and response from most coworkers is very good. Management seems to be paying more attention to the employees.

ConsI understand that he furious pace of product design/development has taken it's toll on some employees. Constant effort to maintain/improve margins has compromised some business decisions. Expansion of overseas operations have resulted in curtailments in the US and Ireland (a pretty "western centric" perspective).

Advice to Senior ManagementThe obvious: keep looking for the balance between margins/profitability and taking care of your employees. Take a hard, long term look at where you're going to run your business.

Great place to learn

Software Engineer (Current Employee)
San Jose, CA

I have been working at Xilinx as an intern for less than a year

ProsHad freedom to work in my way - I was given a lot of freedom with respect to organizing my work and my methods of getting the work done.
Got to use technologies I preferred
Great team and mentor, welcomed me to the team and supported me throughout.

ConsSoftware developers are not the most important people at Xilinx. Being a predominantly semi-conductor company hardware people with a EE are obviously the most influential people.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease bring in more interns and try to convert them to full time.
