Senior Director (Former Employee) Fremont, CA

ProsMy days were always packed with tasks and deadlines to meet. I learned to multi task effectively and to prioritize my work flow for best efficiency. Our management was very hands off allowing us wide breadth of autonomy to achieve our metrics. New field for me.

They treat non-Xyratex employees like shlt.

Was a great company, however ego and short sighted thinking have brought it short of its potential

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood pay and benefits. Some managers provide great support.

ConsManagement has trouble getting out of its own way.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook beyond your ego. Plan to be a legacy company not a flash in a pan. Should have spent more time and money raising the bar internally than on lowering it on the logo.

    Rough and tumble

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsScrappy little company. The people there work hard. The facilities at some locations are very good and include nice little benefits like excellent espresso machines and open space to sit and collaborate.

ConsThis company seems to be thrashing. Disk drives are a commodity, and they really seem to need to move into the next big thing.

Advice to Senior ManagementRamp up the commitment to employees. Clear out the deadwood, reward and recognize the ones you want to keep with benefits they see as motivating. Offer more learning and development opportunities for your people, and move your infrastructure at all sites into this decade.
