I have been working at Yale University part-time for more than a year

    Pros

High student minimum wage, nice and friendly people. Never experienced any difficulties during the two years I was employed. Would recommend to anyone!

    Cons

Kind of a pain to get to and from work - the shuttles are not always the most reliable, but they do a decent job. New Haven gets quite cold in the winter, so be prepared for that.

I have been working at Yale University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Yale has a lot of resources for students, and great professors, labs, and other people. It is a very unique place in all that it offers and really allows students the opportunity to grow and learn a lot about themselves and the world.

    Cons

Not a great place for engineering or science students to gain lots of hands-on experience of prepare for careers working with hands-on things.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Yale University full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, casual atmosphere, and you know that you're doing important research work at a top-notch University, which gave me a great deal of satisfaction.

    Cons

The salaries are lower than in industry, but that's not specific to Yale. That's true for all jobs in academe.

I have been working at Yale University full-time for more than a year

    Pros

A strong culture of excellence & success; great health and retirement benefits; excellent soft perks (e.g., access to libraries and other institutional resources).

    Cons

Some offices could benefit from more active professional development (of skills, review of best practices, etc.); but this is not unique to Yale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Professional development (specific to the profession, regular, documented, and somehow shared with campus peers) should be (a) required for all professionals above a certain (tbd) level, especially for people supervising others, and (b) readily available and encouraged for mid-career professionals.
