I have been working at Yesmail full-time for more than a year

    Pros

For the most part it's very flexible and decent work/life balance. And with a few exceptions, most of the people I work with are good people - not all, but most. The absolute only reason I stay is the flexibility.

    Cons

Limited growth opportunities. Horrible benefits. No yearly reviews - which means no raises. Some people seem checked out and just going through the motions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get on board with normal corporate standards. I have never worked for a company who's CEO states in Town Hall meetings (on more than one occasion) that "We don't do reviews". If you think it's time for a raise, you have to beg your manager. That is ridiculous. If you want to keep people and reduce turnover - give us incentive to want to stay. Regular reviews. Standard pay increases. Decent 401k. This is a job, not a career.

I worked at Yesmail full-time for more than a year

    Pros

good people, and technology - email industry is consolidating, you must have expertise in several areas. Data and big data technology could help their position.

    Cons

willingness to change, look at new technology and marketing methods. Leverage the good resources you have (the people). Yesmail has had several re-org's in the past but i'm not sure if just changing management is the answer.

    I worked at Yesmail

    Pros

There are many friendly individuals and there can be opportunities to learn and grow.

    Cons

The company doesn't seem to have clear career path for most departments. New management is not people focused and seems struggling to turn around the last few years of bad numbers and client losses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that while work is a reciprocal agreement to exchange services, a company needs to reciprocate with more than just a salary. Things like mentoring, career advancement, training, trust etc. are required to retain the best and the brightest.

I have been working at Yesmail

    Pros

The people are great, the work/life balance is excellent, and I've learned a lot in my time here. I've been exposed to a fair number of technologies that I'd never worked with before.

    Cons

Let's face it, no one is excited about e-mail marketing (AKA spam). You'll also find yourself supporting lots of crappy legacy code. And developers have to work two-week support rotations where you're on call 24/7 (although thankfully, off-hours calls are fairly rare).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management could very easily improve morale by making pay and benefits more competitive.

I have been working at Yesmail

    Pros

Yesmail is an innovated company, really trying to push their products and employees to the next level. Everyone is very competent and great to work with.

    Cons

The sister companies under Infogroup, that Yesmail works with are, are bloated with inefficiencies. These teams need to be modified to match the pace the online marketing space demands.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you're doing. Yesmail is a great place to work for and moving in a great direction. Hopefully the sister companies won't bring this burgeoning company down.

I have been working at Yesmail full-time

    Pros

    Brilliant, fun people
    Great locations
    Flexible work accommodations

    Cons

    Horrible benefits
Owned by multiple levels of corporate greed and mismanagement
    Average pay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Well, you can't do anything because your hands are tied. Perhaps relieve a few layers of executive staff? Focus on the winners, maybe?
