    Pros

Lots of interaction with very friendly people. You will make more friends in this job than you will anywhere and you will meet people from all over the world. They also have incredible benefits

    Cons

long hours, upper management is completely out of touch with rest of the mission, low pay. Prepare to have your work life and home life merge

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take better care of the entry level employees. They are truly the ones who make the organization work. They are the ones out there day in and day out. Stop creating position after position in the corporate side instead give some pay raises to people who really deserve it

Management and leadership are the loneliest positions. YL creates environments that are established on relationships and dedication. Networking experiences are unmatched.

    Cons

Salary is through donations which becomes very humbling.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

consult with your area directors on making each area unique.

    Pros

Excellent youth ministry training, amazing camps, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on a community. Young Life takes care of their employees and sets them up to be successful.

    Cons

Raising money for the area can be a difficult process if the area is new or in a transition. Often times really talented people have to leave staff because the area can no longer afford to pay them.

    I worked at Young Life

    Pros

What a wonderful mission. Nothing more rewarding than bringing kids to Christ. Beautiful camps to send our kids to. Supportive and loving community. It's fun... Young Life is all about fun and enjoying life.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations for very low pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your employees love Jesus and love Young Life. Allow them to put their families and faith first by not expecting them to put in 80 hours a week. PAY them for the work that they do.

I have been working at Young Life full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great culture of fun, adventure, humor. Love working with these people...the upper management is humorous and really seem to care about lower level people but don't have the time to invest in them.

    Cons

Pay-Came on staff and make $1650/mo (pre tax) in the first two years. Sometimes ministry has no boundaries (work at nights/weekends), and it's hard if you're coming in to a new area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some sort of increased compensation would be great.

I have been working at Young Life as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Very positive experience and can be very rewarding working with kids, sharing the gospel, and spreading God's love around the community.

    Cons

Even though it's a good organization, the depth of things talked about at YoungLife can be quite shallow when it comes to Christianity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take some risk, share the gospel without backing down. Stand firm and don't be shallow.
