I have been working at Young Life full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There aren't many jobs where your first part of business is your personal health which includes spending time with Christ. The community is wonderful. The work is rewarding. Wonderful ministry to work with.

    Cons

Can be a never ending job. Must learn to balance work and life or what either truly is.

I worked at Young Life full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

You will work with the best people you could ever hope to meet. The community of staff is incredible and impossible to find elsewhere. The leadership genuinely cares about the staff and wants them to succeed. Every day is different and you get the opportunity to do a lot of different things. You truly can make an impact in your community and for the kingdom of God.

    Cons

The work-life balance can be awful, but that goes for any ministry. You have to be really intentional about your time. There isn't much room for growth once you become an Area Director. The pay structure is not the best and they really don't care well for staff when their area is in deficit. In many ways they throw you out there to fend for yourself and it can feel like you're on an island with little support. I think they want to help but sometimes don't know how.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care for your staff better. Your people are your most valuable resource and you should treat them that way.

I have been working at Young Life part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

While serving as a volunteer provides no compensation, the excitement and joy of working with kids and other leaders is rewarding enough. My job is basically to be a friend. Friendships are awesome. It's how you build great memories.

    Cons

No pay as a volunteer (but that's not why we work here anyway). As far as a résumé goes, it's not the most useful "experience".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the work/job experience resemble more of a real-time job as best as possible.

    I worked at Young Life

    Pros

An outward approach that you can feel inward. Great relations made within the office and all focused on an outward goal.

    Cons

Obviously as a non-profit there'll be more financial incentives elsewhere but at Young Life everyone is making an effort and cares more about the overall mission.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it up. Maybe provide more opportunities for new hires to be poured into more and have more interaction with upper management.

I have been working at Young Life full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

the idea of spending a majority of your time pursuing relationships with high school students may sound absurd, however when one is doing it to advance the Gospel, it is a beautiful thing!

    Cons

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Young Life. It is an incredible platform to share the Gospel.

I have been working at Young Life part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It's a great company that's centered around getting kids to Christ! It's about having fun and not boring high school students with the gospel. If you never want to grow up, then this is that organization for you. Fun 24/7.

    Cons

You can easily be discouraged when you are not seeing the results of your hard work. But you must trust that The Lord will use your labors even if you can't see them instantly.

    Pros

Lots of support from staff around you, strong core values of reaching kids and overall very fun place.
