    I worked at Zacks Investment Research as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    Learn a lot of things on financial markets, established financial products. Good for the entry level job seeker to start a career.

    Cons

    Few growth opportunity for new employees. Bad management system. Benefit package sucks. You need to pay a lot for your own insurance every month.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Must have better promotion rules.

    Great for learning, poor for working

    I worked at Zacks Investment Research full-time

    Pros

    If you want to learn about investment research, Zacks will inundate you with data & information. They have access to a mountain of fundamental data, wall street research, models, and tools and software to keep you extremely busy...but it's also all over the place and hard to put it all together.

    They highly encourage innovation and every level of management encourages fresh thoughts. If you have a good ideas, they WILL LISTEN and probably act on it.

    Cons

    Woefully underpaid and terrible benefits. no 401k matching of any kind, if you have a family, the medical plan is out of control expensive. People are easily and frequently fired and leave for a better paying job. Top management really doesn't care about it's people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop outsourcing every job to India; you have lost and will lose extremely talented and devoted employees because we all feel the hammer coming sooner or later.

    I have been working at Zacks Investment Research full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    There are some good guys that work for the company and are very easy to get along with.

    Cons

    IT Management has compound issues. IT is split between 2 departments with no over-recing goal of actually improving the company. Management drives out competent talent or fires them for wanting to do job correctly. Those that are qualified and stay get stifled and just do bare minimum to make it bearable. IT constantly battles with business instead of tryin to support nd make things better. I.E. - making poor choices and not growing but stagnating so goals cant be met.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    IT Management just needs to change, the two individuals that are currently running are not equipped to do so.

    Pros

    Downtown location. Competitive pay. Flexible working hours.

    Cons

    Focus on outsourcing departments to India. Owner feels that he has had some success in outsourcing some now he wants to do more to cut costs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep focus and keep moving forward. Balance is the key to having successful projects.

    - management lives in its own world
    - poor ethics
    - no team work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Company has great potential, but it will take getting fresh team with people who want to grow professionally and whats more important, have the opportunity to grow.

    No room for advancement, poor management, employees are treated as faceless numbers.

    I worked at Zacks Investment Research full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    If you want to work at a place where below average effort and quality of work is tolerated this is the place.

    Cons

    Low pay.
    No room for advancement.
    Dysfunctional work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop following the same self destructive decision patterns.

    I have been working at Zacks Investment Research

    Pros

    You can read newspaper, browse web and enjoy your day there without anyone checking your work;
    you get free benefit by telling lies such as I am sick

    Cons

    ideas are usually not respected;
    personal contribution not rewarded;
    VP makes all the say, even when they make stupid decisions - and by the way, you are often the last one to know anything about it;
    people are let go without giving a second chance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Len oversees everything, but he is too old and old-fashioned that he barely gives a shXt to employee's complains;
    and, he takes a close control of budget, so don't ever expect him to give you raise, or even support your green card application!
