    Pros

In the beginning, things were good. Employees, work conditions, hours, etc., I actually looked forward to going into work. Lots of variety.

    Cons

Towards the end, things went downhill especially after the acquisition. The atmosphere changed, and it wasn't as pleasant anymore. There was quite a bit of arrogance.

I worked at Zellers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you're lucky you work with a good team. Head office HR staff are great. Flexible shifts are great.

    Cons

Low pay compared with the amount of work that is expected of you. Not a lot of opportunity for growth. No follow up/through on training programs. Very disorganized. Expected to work until late at night and be back super early the next day. Expected to work at least 12 hours a day. Frowned upon for taking breaks.

    Advice to Management

Consider paying what people deserve, not how low you can go. Offer training that is organized and helpful. Allow people a work life balance without making them feel guilty for leaving the store or taking vacation.

    I worked at Zellers full-time

    Pros

Co-workers were friendly, team environment was the only thing good about working for this company.

    Cons

Poor management on all levels lead to a demeaning work experience and caused extremely high turnover in the organization. Eventually Zellers went out of business.
