I have been working at Zep full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great products practically sell themselves. Great incentives and commission. No base pay, straight commission, the harder the work the bigger the check. Very independent, no micromanagement.

    Cons

Hard to get problems resolved. If there is an issue that needs a manager approval you wont hear back for weeks Not much room for growth

    Pros

Great overall company to work for. There is a sense of community and familiarity with every employee. Management tries to innovate and monitor productivity constantly and it seems to pay off immensely.

    Cons

The facilities are a bit dated. The systems that they operate out of are a bit dated as well. Outside of that, there are few cons.

I worked at Zep full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fair pay, good communication with mgmt, team approach at all levels, advancement opportunities in Atlanta especially and if willing to relocate. Unlimited potential in sales

    Cons

It is difficult for sales reps without a book of business to make it at Zep on the pay structure unless their is strong spouse support while a rep builds his/her business.

    Advice to Management

A more structured sales rep training program would be helpful. There is not enough criteria used in hiring new reps. It seems as though the process is to throw as many people against the wall and see what sticks.

I worked at Zep full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Quality products Professional mgmt and staff Opportunities for growth Solid benefit package

    Cons

Difficult for new salespeople to get started without prior connections with buyers in large accounts

    Advice to Management

Ensure that you make it easy for customers to do business with you. This benefit was lost when Zep closed many branches on the local level. Perhaps this was merely a growing pain and has worked itself out by now.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Great products, great support people, customer service, freedom to develop at your own pace. Enjoy the freedom but you must be mature enough to work autonomously.

    Cons

Pay is not up to par with other Corporations. Their expenses are a joke. They give you an amount you have to subsidize your own cash to make ends meet.

    Advice to Management

Change the compensation plan to be competitive. With gas prices nearing $4.00 a gallon give some more incentives. If a Branch exceeds their budget or quota. They give you a dam pen.

    Cons

some management has no clue what we do or how we do it

    Advice to Management

get to know our business before you make decisions that hurt our company. It used to be a partnership between reps and the company now it's the company against the reps, that needs to change
