I have been working at Zimmer full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Some coworkers are good. Pay and benefits are good. Location is good.

    Cons

Constantly changing directions from management. Not enough employees in many functions to get the job done. There is not good work life balance. Many are currently looking for jobs because of the merger.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop having so many surveys that people are afraid to answer honestly. It is a waste of money. Offer retention bonuses for people to stay through the merger. Too many people are spending time looking for jobs since there is no confidence that they will stay employed.

    Pros

    Great 401K matching plan
    lots of training

    Cons

Every year they reduced the medical benefits
    got rid of stock sharing
    extremely political

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to stop letting regulatory run the show and respect the employees who do the work

I have been working at Zimmer full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good salary, great products, hands off management style, relaxed environment, good work-life balance, nice people.

    Cons

Little direction from management, too much focus on the bottom line, poor communication with international markets, lip service paid to employee engagement, little investment in training outside sales, little to no promotion opportunities (nearly all management is recruited from outside, at least in international markets).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Believe and invest in your people more, conduct round tables on employee engagement, challenge your high performers more.

I worked at Zimmer full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Large company experience.

    Cons

Very depressing place to work. Continuous cuts and no respect for employees. No mentoring and it was difficult to get approval for training/education. Most HR paperwork including Gallup meant to check a box for management. Full of careerists at the director level that are mentally gone but stay for the LTI program.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees are not trapped in Warsaw. Leadership seems to believe that innovation is cost cutting rather than diversification to avoid commoditization sweeping the industry.

I have been working at Zimmer full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Good salary
Nice people who try to do the right thing
Good products that are rewarding to work on
Great if you like to coast in an easy job.

    Cons

Poor benefits, stingy vacation policy, use high deductible health plan to pass costs on to employees. Forced ranking every year and then lay off the bottom 5%. Little investment in training people. Top management has "slave mentality", they don't care whether you like your assignments and are inflexible about alternative work schedules. Tend to keep people a level lower than what they are arable of, promotions take forever. Stingy severance packages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your employees by providing quality training opportunities and more interesting assignments, and more challenging assignments. Too much focus on bottom line for investors and stockholders, makes employees feel like the last priority. Productivity will continue to suffer with low morale. Stop asking us to give to the PAC when you don't appreciate what we do.

    I worked at Zimmer

    Pros

    Benefits
    Bonus
Defined system for medical devices already in place.

    Cons

There seemed to be no vision for the Biologics side. There wasn't a clear pipeline and large turnover, both voluntarily and involuntarily. Management are not effective leaders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your staff better and provide information on the pipeline and path moving forward. Develop careers instead of just the bottom line.

I have been working at Zimmer full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees are well educated and most well meaning; comp package is excellent

    Cons

Company is run like a federation, not one company. There is no reward for cross functional collaboration and no consequence for absence of the same

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need a leader who has and can convey a strong unifying vision. Need second levels leaders who will collaborate across siloes to execute the vision

I worked at Zimmer full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The money is really good. The hours for hourly employees are great. The work is fairly easy. The environment is clean and safe.

    Cons

Dwindling benefits over the years to line the board's pockets. Lots of lies told to keep folks quiet. Upper management are heartless! Hourly employees' ideas are not taken seriously or stolen to advance a manager's career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop lying to employees. They are not children. Stop cutting throats to get ahead. Grow a heart!

I have been working at Zimmer full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

paycheck, can be used as a stepping stone to get experience for another orthopedic company, which many have done. Pretty good pay for small town.

    Cons

extreme stress, everyone in management afraid to make decision. gestapo like leadership at top. Every year since present top management took over employees have seen benefits taken away, such as medical insurance for retirees, paid holidays, and shares of stock options that had previously been given as incentive for good work. The lawyer and his minions want it all. The company has been sued twice in last 5 years for dishonest practices. Go figure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

leave, and replace with people who are honest and know how to run a business that cares about it's employees.

    No confidence in upper management

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Zimmer

    Pros

The people below director level are great to work with. Several good engineers and long-time employees that care about their work. Salary is good.

    Cons

Upper management has created a toxic environment of backstabbing and cutting corners. They don't listen to or trust any of their employees. Morale is the lowest I've seen anywhere. There is NO career development. It's all about the bottom line even at the sacrifice of quality, which is unethical in this industry. They fire people for trying to do the right thing and blame the employees for their poor decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. Wake up and realize that your performance review system is the biggest reason morale is so low. Take a good long look at yourselves, and STOP blaming your employees for your mistakes/poor decisions. Quit running a once-good company into the ground.
