    Pros

-Strong Work Life Balance - Advancement Opportunity - Relaxed Dress Code - Decent working hours -Decent pay/Benefits/Vacation and Sick Time

    Cons

-Have to start as a temp and it can take 8+ months to be brought on full time -Quality issues with products - Uncertainty with job site as divisions or entire company could relocate -Key decision makers are not local -Communication issues between sites

    Advice to Management

Move on from small company mentality. Hire more supervisors/managers and set clearer expectations for workers. Don't be so liberal with the phrase "and other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Don't stunt employee growth due to not having a degree/masters.

    Pros

Zimmer has a fairly competetive compesation package including matching 401K up to 6% (5 yrs for company's part to fully vest at 20%/yr) and a year end bonus. Pretty low cost of living in Warsaw,IN. Relatively decent if diminishing health care benefits. Nice plant facilities in Warsaw. Somewhat casual dresscode. Depending on workflow, sometimes Zimmer is work/life balance friendly. Of course, that goes out the window if a project is behind.

    Cons

There are not many people here with the hands on experience to be effective problem solvers from the engineering teams up to the senior execs. Many more who can talk a good game and use staistics to support their decisions (often the wrong decisions). The result is inaccurate forecasting in terms of product demand as well as poor execution of projects. Relying on these people with little hands on experience is like getting a cost/time estimate to rewire your house from a florist. Poor (clueless) deadline setting by these folks lead to long hours of chaos, bad results, and scapegoating. Cutting the bonus by a percentage is a bad idea. The best people will not be staying in Warsaw if the bonus is not reliable. Remember that technical resources are constantly recruited. I started updating my resume the day I learned that my bonus would be cut by 50%. I really like working at Zimmer but I will not be staying if that happens again. In fact, I am fairly well into the interview process now with another large company. This is mostly a "plan B" at this time but, like I said, it all began over that bonus slashing deal. I don't think anyone puts much faith in those bonus metrics either since those numbers can be fudged. The amount of paperwork involved with doing anything at this company is rediculous. Some of that is driven by the FDA but alot is self imposed.

    Advice to Management

When you want to hire an expert, don't do the interview without an expert at your side. You don't know what you don't know.

    Pros

People - I get to work with a group of engaging and supportive group of people both personally and professionally. Product - No company has higher standards for quality or performance. Purpose - The core of our business focuses on improving peoples' lives. Very rewarding work that provides a sense of purpose.

    Cons

Uncertainty caused by impending merger with Biomet. Small town. Hour commute from nearest decent sized city. Average compensation.

    Advice to Management

Know that your top talent is being courted daily. Make it a priority through this merger to hold onto your essential personnel. Otherwise, you could be on the wrong end of a talent gold rush. Continue to focus on company culture initiatives.

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. They highly value quality and proper business ethics and they instill the value- "do the right thing" even if it has some negative costs attached to it. The people are friendly and the culture is somewhat relaxed since the company divisions are not centrally located and it gives the sense that it is a smaller company.

    Cons

They have poor time management on projects; project requirements change/expand, yet the timeline stays the same. The merger with Biomet is dragging on and it is having a negative impact on moral.
