I knew I made a giant mistake after a month on the job

Senior Management (Former Employee) Fort Lauderdale, FL

ProsLarge company with lots of resources

ConsLeadership is non existent. The Chairman is too busy trying to be a celebrity and has left management of the company to at the HR director and a bean counter.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a dynamic leader for a CEO. One that pays attention to the company, it clients and employees. Work on lowering the 70% turnover rate in employees. Get some top notch creative. I know the mantra of the company is brand tailing but how much better would results be with great creative?

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Fast paced unless you are not given any work and you wonder why you're there.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsLearn to navigate through different personalities.

ConsToxic, gossipy environment. No work, left to sit for hours and days.

Uninspiring, Under appreciated, and Underpaid... Its where you go to get a foot in.

Account Executive (Current Employee) Fort Lauderdale, FL

ProsThe people you work with are great and great talent. Good Place to get started and use on resume.

ConsMiddle and Upper Management . Everyone works like robots and there is no thought. No Innovation. Low Salary.Under paid and no opportunity to be innovative. Its a factory.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake advantage of your talent . That is why people leave even if the pay is not good make your employees should be proud of what they are doing and working on, not just taking orders. You hired them for a reason, use their skills.

Good starting place...but that is really it

Media Planner (Former Employee) Fort Lauderdale, FL

ProsEveryone at the Assistant Media Planner/Junior Media Planner level can really learn from one another. You will make mistakes and learn a lot right off the bat.

Several clients from several industries to work on

Lots of resources to learn (and add to your resume)

You thought you knew excel...now you will

There are several Supervisors and AMD's who are very cool and you will know how lucky you are when you work with them

It is not all bad but you know it will be a stepping stone

ConsThe starting salary was painfully low, insulting to a degree, but I had to look at is as the cost of getting my feet wet in the industry as well as a reason to ask for a credit limit increase

There are some Supervisors and AMD's that seem like Satan and you will loathe them

Often you become a cog in the wheel and do repetitive mindless tasks...The only way out is to be proactive and approach your superiors for new challenges... as well as not make mistakes on the more mindless tasks

You come cheap to them fresh out of college which is great for them but terrible for you. You can get tiny raises along the way or be smart and jump ship a good or even average opportunity arises. The Sun will be brighter...the grass will be greener on the other side.

Advice to Senior ManagementI have heard that things have become better with the new Media Director but frankly when you hire people from out of state you have to know the salary is near impossible to live off of. I racked up tons of credit card debt simply to work and get experience and I am still paying for it. When I started I was offered $24k. I hope that has changed.

I was fortunate to work with a few great AMD's and Supervisors but when your employees actually complain about one specific AMD over and over again take it seriously.

    You are expandable

Media Buyer (Former Employee) Fort Lauderdale, FL

ProsIts worth being hired even if its just for a few month so you can use the word Omnicom on your resume, then quit and get a real job in a real company.

ConsDisorganized, low paying, supervisors have no brains and directors are completely blind

Advice to Senior ManagementMy best suggestion in for Jordan Zimmerman to micromanage once again his baby before its to late.

    You work your ass off.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat place to learn if you are a self-starter. Lots of nice people.

ConsThe pay is sad and it will make you sad too.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn how to manage people and put in the time to help them grow. Pay them better. If you go home before the people who are working for you, you are a bad manager.

    First job out of college

Senior Account Executive (Former Employee) Fort Lauderdale, FL

ProsGreat place to meet people. The 20 and 30 somethings make the transition into the workforce and enjoyable thing. I learned a lot from this experience (good and bad) that i could have only received through being thrown into the fire without training.

ConsThis company is definitely geared towards entry level positions. However, they paid such little salaries and expected so many hours that they were investigated by the department of labor while I was there and were forced to cut checks of different amounts to the majority of the workers. All in all, the empty promises of raises while at the same time increasing work load wasn't worth staying. I received 3 title promotions while i was there with only 1 pay increase. The rest of the time they were on a "salary freeze", when the upper management was still getting raises.

Advice to Senior ManagementJust treat your employees a little better and your turnover will improve.
