    Living the dream at Zogenix

Neuroscience Account Manager (Current Employee) South Seattle, WA

ProsZogenix offers extreme autonomy when it comes to sales and running your territory. Management stands behind each employee always asking that employee what they need to become successful. Zogenix has a great company culture and they reward hard work and great performance.

ConsCurrently, the company has only one product to sell. The territories tend to run large due to the niche market they have carved out in Neurology. Zogenix will live or die by the sales of Sumavel this year so one has to have an appetite for big risk/reward in order to be successful here.

ProsSmall company with the ability to get things done without all the layers of management

ConsManagement not prepared for obstacles during launch. They expect SAMs to get unrealistic results and turn a blind eye to violations of Pharma code. Management says one thing but expects you to do whatever it takes.

Advice to Senior ManagementPractice what you preach! It was suppose to be a "pharma for adults" type company; you are the CEO, etc. If you want sales done appropriately, then you should have been prepared to give the appropriate time and support for the launch of your new product. You started make jobs cuts before the end of the first quarter of launch. It is understandable that you cannot anticipate every possible scenario, but it would have been better to respond immediately when controversy started surfacing instead of taking a wait and see approach.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Big Promises, HUGE Disappointment! AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!

    Specialty Account Manager (Current Employee)

ProsThey pay a high base and commission, but wait a minute.. here come the lay offs!!!

ConsThe management hires a huge sales force and 13 weeks into the launch of the new product then lays off 20-30 people. They were shortsighted in their planning for the launch, they appeared caught off guard at every turn and they promise a 1 year window to get the product moving. THESE reps (all seasoned) were let go with 12 hours notice! What does that say to the rest of the sales force? It says "you are next"!! RUN RUN AWAY!!!

Advice to Senior ManagementFor upper management, get an idea of what you are doing! Don't make lofty promises and then put great people out on the curb in less than 3 months of a launch. Maybe you should re-think your style and abilities.. Stop patting yourselves on the back and get things done! I'm out ASAP!
