Great place for fresh out of College- not so great for experienced professionals.

    Current Employee (Current Employee)
    Reston, VA

    Pros-Laid back environment
    -Great people
    -casual dressing
    -lots of office activities

Cons-very low salaries as compared to industry standerds
-Every second person is a manager of some kind
-Promotion is not based upon performance but rather on the years you have been with the company- thus a lot of unworthy people end up becoming managers.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe middle layer of management needs to be smaller- too many managers spoil the broth.

Unless you're in Reston, you don't really matter

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Seattle, WA

ProsGood people, and the satisfaction of contributing to an industry leader.

ConsLow pay - they try to hire lots of kids straight out of college. Hard to climb the ladder. Upper management is near universally uninspiring. Don't cover any transportation costs.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet someone other than Magid to speak to the employees. He's brilliant, but incredibly boring as a speaker. He does not inspire.

many cool people to work with

    Data Analyst (Current Employee)
    Reston, VA

ProsMost coworkers are very smart, a lot to learn from them; laid back work environment

ConsTransfer people from team to team frequently, I know it's because of young company's flexibility.. but you can only say so when you're not the one who got transferred; low pay, long hours

Great first job, but was happy to leave

    Client Service Manager (Former Employee)
    Reston, VA

    Pros-Ability to work from home
    -"Casual" work attire every day
    -Young office
    -Cool work (digital market place)
-Coworkers were fun and we often hung-out outside of work

Cons-Terrible commute to Reston from the metro-DC area
-Hours can be very long sometimes (12+ hour days)
    -No overtime
-Very little acknowledgement of a job well done (upper management takes ALL THE CREDIT)
-Sometimes we felt that management was being "shady" with information
-Favoritism plays a role in promotions & raises the higher up you go
-The work can be very mundane
-VERY little variety in work (once you are placed in your "vertical" you're pretty much stuck working on the same clients over and over and over.....)

Advice to Senior ManagementValue your employees or they will all start leaving and heading to other companies (and not just with happy hours...how about some real recognition?)

It started quickly, but the learning, growth and joy tapered off just as quickly.

    (Former Employee)
    Reston, VA

Proswonderful, friendly coworkers; good opportunities to work with lots of research data collected from millions of global sources; very inexpensive healthcare premiums

Consvery little growth opportunities for anyone hired in the past 3 years; 2 layoffs in the past 3 years; weak 401k matching (max of 1.5% of salary with 5 year vesting)

Advice to Senior ManagementGet expenses under control. 30% revenue is great, but expenses are growing much faster. Accept slower, smarter growth instead of spurts of fast growth followed by layoffs, hiring freezes, or salary reductions or freezes.
