Former Employee - Client Service Manager in Reston, VA

    I worked at comScore

    Pros

    -Ability to work from home
    -"Casual" work attire every day
    -Young office
    -Cool work (digital market place)
-Coworkers were fun and we often hung-out outside of work

    Cons

-Terrible commute to Reston from the metro-DC area
-Hours can be very long sometimes (12+ hour days)
    -No overtime
-Very little acknowledgement of a job well done (upper management takes ALL THE CREDIT)
-Sometimes we felt that management was being "shady" with information
-Favoritism plays a role in promotions & raises the higher up you go
-The work can be very mundane
-VERY little variety in work (once you are placed in your "vertical" you're pretty much stuck working on the same clients over and over and over.....)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees or they will all start leaving and heading to other companies (and not just with happy hours...how about some real recognition?)

It started quickly, but the learning, growth and joy tapered off just as quickly.

    I worked at comScore

    Pros

wonderful, friendly coworkers; good opportunities to work with lots of research data collected from millions of global sources; very inexpensive healthcare premiums

    Cons

very little growth opportunities for anyone hired in the past 3 years; 2 layoffs in the past 3 years; weak 401k matching (max of 1.5% of salary with 5 year vesting)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get expenses under control. 30% revenue is great, but expenses are growing much faster. Accept slower, smarter growth instead of spurts of fast growth followed by layoffs, hiring freezes, or salary reductions or freezes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

PROBLEM: Being a small company with very fast growth, comScore produces work like a start up, accepts all business like a start up, but has high sales goals. This overworks employees to the point of quitting.

    SOLUTION:
    1. More attention needs to be given to the ability to scale work efficiently.
    2. Need to be more selective in what business you're willing to take, assuming you're not willing to support it by hiring more employees
