    Crappy office in Melville, NY

Database Engineer III (Former Employee) Melville, NY

ProsSalary, place to sit down and work

ConsCrappy office (looked liked a JUNK-YARD rather than a office )
Talking to Recruiters make to feel like you are being obliged by them.
They don't reply to your emails/questions
    Totally unprofessional.
Can't imagine such kind of people work eBay

Advice to Senior ManagementFIRE such crappy recruiters and managers

Run away - don't walk - Terrible place to work!

Manager (Current Employee) King of Prussia, PA

    ProsCompensation and benefits are solid
    Facilities are well maintained

Cons- Totally dysfunctional organization, from top to bottom (some departments are worse than others)
     - Absolutely no appreciation of work force, you are viewed as a "tool" to be used until broken.
     - NO work life balance – NONE, anyone who tells you different is lying to you.
     - Expectations are totally unrealistic, due to past miss-steps and terrible decisions, which the company is now paying for in a big way.
     - Could continue, but basically – this is a terrible place to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementCheck the egos – stop living on past accomplishments - the place is a mess and you should know that - if you guys were so good, so smart, so advanced, your clients would say so, yes... Not sure that is happening, is it?

Take a REAL look at the state of the company, be real, be honest, and identify WHO allowed it to happen (at all levels, not just executive level, but Directors / Senior management as well) – need to clean house.

you need new blood/viewpoints, and listen to them if you can get anyone of substance to sign-up for the re-build!

Build alignment, teamwork and change the culture, it starts at the top – not just talk, real change.

Hope it is not too late!

    No Incentive to Work Hard

    N/A (Former Employee)

ProsFree Bagels, Soda, Ability to work from home sometimes

ConsLaughable pay raises, promotions are rare, growth (what's that?), working around the clock, beating their employees into the ground until they have nothing left to give, little-to-no recognition, revolving door, terrible culture, senior management non-existent. Only way to get a raise is by getting another offer and making them match it. This is a known fact.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of all of them and start over.

Just a horrible place to work at

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) King of Prussia, PA

ProsThe pay and benefits are decent

ConsEverything else? I knew I made a mistake a week after I started. Everyone is miserable. Low morale. Constant finger pointing and passing the buck amongst teams and departments. High turnover and that's not even considering the layoffs that happen almost yearly. They're losing clients left and right because of missed goals and timelines. Run far and fast away from this company

Advice to Senior ManagementCare a little about your employees.

    Company of last resort

Grunt (Current Employee) King of Prussia, PA

ProsFew things I like about this place: paycheck, exposure to many different and current technologies, great co-workers--really smart, talented people.

ConsWe were GSI Commerce. That is being eroded and anything with GSI stamped on it is being erased. Our president told us a year ago, "If you don't subscribe to our [corporate] philosophy, you should leave." How awful is that? I don't have a mission to change the world for eBay. That is so wrong and offensive. I don't want to leave. I want to do the same good job I've done for many years. I'll change the world on my own time, thank you.

It's often very difficult to find the right person to help. It's a complex engine and you can't figure it out yourself. Because turnover is so high the subject matter expert you thought you knew quit or was fired last week.

Also, management is dysfunctional, delusional, and deficient. Constant reorgs. Exactly how many times can you restructure the middle managers in a year or two? Apparently there is no limit with this company.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop punishing the workers.

    Worse than slave labor

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) King of Prussia, PA

ProsOpportunity to go work for corp in San Jose, flexible schedules, nice people

ConsRequired to work 24/7, inadequate benefits/pay, no work/life balance, company cannot support client needs, no employee retention plan, constant turnover

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat the people you have right, stop being so skimpy with head count if you want this to be a great place to work as you claim.

Can't Move Up Don't hire within.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Walton, KY

ProsPTO is great. Nothing else is really that good.

ConsNo way to move up. They always hire outside for supervisor and manager.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire within. Give people credit that has done the job for years and not make them train someone who has no clue that is going to run your DEPT.

    Terrible Place to work

Test Automation (Current Employee) King of Prussia, PA

ProsAbility to learn a lot of new things - because everything is done at a fast pace. You do get paid well but other benefits are just ok.

ConsYou are working for a sweat shop. You are just a number and nothing more. Grueling hours and management will only look to point out faults regardless of how much work you put in. Terrible work culture - everyone is pointing fingers at each other (teams in different product areas do not work well with each other). Clients are unhappy, the platform is based on a terrible product from Intershop.

Oh yeah - and management decided that they didn't want to have test automation. So that they can hire cheaper manual QA just fresh from college or abuse the eBay internship program some more. I felt so sorry for those poor kids - not getting paid to work in this terrible place.

Please do not in your right mind join this place if you care for your health or family. We were stuck in a room like a bunch of cattle and management was checking to see who comes in at what time and leave at what time. It was just terrible.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't think employees are just a number. Oh and the reviewer who said that they have sabbaticals - ha yes but three years down ok?

    Formerly GSI Commerce

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Walton, KY

ProsHealth benefits were reasonable and covered domestic partners which not many employers do.

ConsThis was probably the worst company I've ever worked for. Employees were treated like a number, there was no compassion, safety was seriously lacking, everyone was overworked and underappreciated. A lot of unethical things going on from upper management.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
