Former Employee - Technical Manager in King of Prussia, PA

    Pros

Fulfilling work, if you ask for it before being hired you will be compensated well, good benefits, flexible hours

    Cons

Reorganizations at least every 3 months. New supervisors every 3 months. Some of the senior management are only in place because they know people, but then stick around after their buddies move on to another company (we pay for the mistakes of those who came and left). The implementation process is S-L-O-W and the business analysts are simply scribes (no good documentation). The bad people can ride the wave and put in minimal work (barely 40 hours) while the good ones can work 80-90 hours, and if they try to work less (after setting the precedent) leadership then expresses their disappointment. If you put in more, you are punished for attempting to try to regain a work/life balance. Moving up (without changing departments) is extremely difficult. Layoffs are frequent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the madness of reorganizations and stop continually laying people off. Get appropriate staffing and stop losing great staff (by not overworking them).

    Pros

GSI offers a good base pay as well as the opportunity to climb the management ladder. There are many opportunities to earn bonuses and being employed there grants many (useful) discounts.

    Cons

It can be a little too fast-paced for the number of managers available which can create the possibility for issues such as misinformed customers. Also, the work scheduling systems was unconventional.

    Pros

Good pay, benefits are great. Plenty of time off. Coworkers are usually pretty good, everyone has their days. Employees are good as well.

    Cons

Clients needs put way before the employees. Asked to work long hours without extra compensation (management), micromanagd a lot. Same old song and dance every day. Poor LIFE/work balance, notice the word LIFE was put first.

    Pros

Smart, interesting people who are fun to work with. Relatively casual environment for the size of the company. Good pay and benefits. Some great and innovative work is done here, but it can be hard to find.

    Cons

Great people leave because they feel like they're dead-ended and can't get promoted. Senior management is completely clueless when it comes to what their employees are actually doing every day and it shows. Some parts of the company have a low-transparency, high-BS culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open a dialogue with your middle managers and Associates, and actually listen.

Current Employee - Software Engineer II in King of Prussia, PA

    Pros

Relatively good pay. For some initial months, had free beer Fridays!

    Cons

Long hours -- work is never ending. Not is it satisfactory in the end of day. The new software platform will take some years to mature so it's currently do whatever it takes to hack, hack, hack

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower technical managers, senior developers to do the right thing. Provide some sort of incentives so that any remaining smart managers/developers do not leave the company after 6+ months.

    Pros

The benefits were awesome, and the coworkers and some of the management I worked with was great,as well as the customers.

    Cons

When they hire you, they have you sign a contract that states your schedule, pay rate and etc,BUT,then they'll change your schedule to a totally different shift even though you signed a legal contract with them a yr before.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be upfront with your employees about their schedules, pay rates and etc & more importantly stick to it.
