    I worked at eHarmony full-time

    Pros

For the most part, I loved the people I worked with. Everyone was very laid back and fairly easy to collaborate with.

    Cons

VERY high school in that some groups are able to run meetings, disrupt projects, etc as though they're the "boss". Very annoying. Big egos for, in comparison to real tech companies, not a lot of talent. Additionally, and this could be a symptom of bad management in my group only, there was no room for advancement. If the manager didn't advance, they wouldn't advocate for you to advance. Though it may have changed, I think the engineering team was not given enough credit, considering they were running very lean with little to no support from senior management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because you have free pizza on Fridays, doesn't make you a tech company.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook

  3.

Nice people trying to do a nice thing for the world, but losing focus on why they started this in the first place.

    I worked at eHarmony

    Pros

Lots of really smart people (in some departments)
    Tons of free food!

    Cons

    Little room for career advancement
    Poor benefits

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Refocus your priorities on what built eHarmony to be what it once was. Side projects/initiatives like Jazzed are a waste of everybody's time.

Re-align your business practices with the message you communicate - practice what you preach. For a company that supposedly cares about its customers, the business practices often suggest otherwise.

You give off a really poor impression when you lay off a whole bunch of people and then go on a big hiring spree weeks later.

    Pros

I love the product/brand. Knowledgeable team. Flexibility to take responsibility on more tasks and expand your knowledge.

    Cons

Very long working hours. Not enough communication from the management in terms of longer term plans. We do not all get a chance to work remotely occasionally although some of us do.

    I worked at eHarmony full-time

    Pros

Lots of free food and snacks, most people are nice

    Cons

Aftwr the move to Santa Monica, the entire vibe changed. The drive plus little direction or way to move up made a lot of people look elsewhere

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within, and in some kind of system where the same people don't get promoted time and time again while other employees get nothing, this destroys morale
