    I worked at hibu

    Pros

I liked the autonomy and having each day different. You get to meet lots of people some are nice and open to hearing what you have to offer others are rude. Lots of rejection but that's sales and you just need to move on to the next door. If you are not motivated and are hurt by rejection this is not a job for you. You can make good money if you are a good at connecting with people and follow up.

    Cons

You are constantly compared to others in your office. So if your co-workers are not doing as well then it makes you look good. Lots of turnover in this job as many people just want to get paid to sit at a desk and wait for the phone to ring. If you are not selling and closing new business on a regular basis then they will show you the door.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some of the management was inspiring and others were not. Spend more time assisting new hires to get prepared and encourage more communal goals where everyone wins.

I worked at hibu full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You were given the freedom to create your own schedule and work virtually from your home with Little to no micromanaging.

    Cons

The only obstacle that continued to present itself was the lack of owning quarterly objectives for new products. Quota would be met by a rep however if the product was a fail and discontinued the rep wasn't able to count those sales toward the quarter.

I have been working at hibu full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The people are terrific. I've worked with different types of companies and I'm surprised each time I get to work with different Sales Managers. They care, they are sharp and they want you to succeed and they help you to do this. My office talks about aptitude and attitude. They will coach all day long if your aptitude isn't quite there but you need to bring the good attitude.

    Cons

The product focused has been challenging but it's recently been focused to some core products. We went from 20+ products to focusing on only 7. The original company values were spot on but since ownership has changed hands, we don't have a clear company message and this challenges motivation at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the enthusiasm and work on a cohesive message that we promote like the old days. Let's bring back the old core values or build some revamped/new ones to continue providing the user/customer driven message.

I worked at hibu full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good hours & overtime, on-site cafeteria, landscaping

    Cons

Company is failing, you can get the product free online, the communication is so poor that one hand has no idea what the other is doing, 30 minute lunches, ever changing goal posts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get it figured out, lots of good people depend on you for their bread and butter.

I have been working at hibu full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Ability to work from home with a virtual office. Hours can be flexible and the benefits are great. Bonus potentials are good and expectatios are fair. A nice portfolio of products to sell and the company seems to be making smart decisions to grow in the right direction with more digital products as the printed phone books are in obvious decline. I love my job and have been with the company over 10 years. Management is good and i am very happy with my income potential. We have a great team and everyone supports everyone. They give you laptops, ipads with internet a base salary, commision and basic expenses with nice quarterly bonus potentials

    Cons

More and more details and follow up are required with this job. Experiencing some very real transition changes that can be frustrating. Training is all virtual so you must teach yourself for the most part. Quarterly goals are an absolute so you MUST hit them. There has been a lot of turnover primarily from those not hitting there goals as they are very much attainable but you have to put in the work. Virtual is good but since all the local office closed it can be a little lonely and you must be able to work on your on...solve your own problems and keep yourself motivated. Expenses like customer lunches are not paid. Reversals and chargebacks are never fun

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training needs to be improved. Although there are plenty of virtual sessions, meeting in person is a welcome change. Meetings tend to always be about numbers and others results. Use that time to help solve real issues and when you say you will get an answer - please get it. It is frustrating trying to get things within our company solved and it seems like great ideas start but are not always finished. Otherwise the management team provides a healthy positive environment.

    Pros

If you perform well at hibu, there is a lot of opportunity for promotions. Just be sure to mention to your manager what direction you want to go in with the company.

    Cons

The restructure of the rolls has been a bit rough, but we are definitely making positive headway!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at hibu full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I've worked at hibu/yellowbook almost 10 years. I've seen lots of changes during this time. Love that hibu works to have a good relevant portfolio of products that helps small business grow. My team is fantastic. I am fortunate to have a wonderful boss who truly "loves her people."

    Cons

Most of us work virtual. I love the work/life balance this gives me; however, it would be nice to connect face to face with people more often. At least my team has weekly virtual meetings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. In the last year the focus has been on improving our core products and better delivery to our clients. I'm happy we're getting back to our core values after a restructure. This is a step in the right direction.
