    I have been working at hybris Software full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    hybris is a dynamic, constantly changing place full of interesting opportunities and challenges. The extreme growth over the past years has shaped the company and made it more mature, and working on and with a very successful product is very rewarding. Management is easily approachable and has open doors - and listens to concerns. People are treated with great respect, and there's a general positive, friendly atmosphere in the offices. Most importantly, hybris employs great people and fosters social interactions, making it a very fun place to work.

    Cons

    - Middle management is not always as competent as desirable, due to rapid growth and hiring - Growth requires constant re-organisation, often leading to confusion and sometimes opaque decision making processes

    I have been working at hybris Software full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly and open environment. It's fast-paced and things evolve quickly - the vision evolves as fast as the eCommerce industry does, and so your focus today may be very different from your focus in 9 months time. The recent SAP takeover hasn't really impacted the culture a large amount at the moment. I progressed from a Professional Services consultant in the UK to a Product Manager in a year - not anticipated when I started, but hybris is one of the few cultures where, if you grab the opportunities when they come, you can pretty much carve out your own career if you have the aptitude.

    Cons

    Not a place for people who need to be told what to do. You need to be a real self-starter, and you need to network and make use of resources to get the best understanding of the organization (which changes shape frequently) and the product / product roadmap. Consequently, it's not hugely systemized as in order to be agile, the company tends to adopt technologies that are easily adaptable (e.g. the Wiki guides everything!) This is changing slowly, but creakingly slowly - and the integration with SAP is helping this somewhat. The takeover by SAP has inevitabily introduced some conflicts where there can be mixed messaging from the SAP side of things - but again, this is not nearly as bad as I anticipated (having been through four mergers before). The most annoying part of the culture can be the some cliquey nature, where you do get little enclaves of coolness - but these quite often don't get the chance to become ingrained due to the way things get shaken up on a regular basis. Also, I'd say that because there can be a lot of change, teams can sometimes seem to be pulling in different direction - there isn't really clear leadership from the top - it tends to filter down in such a way as people have their own take on what it means and implement as they see fit, which can cause a lot of friction until consensus starts to form. Not always hugely efficient - more of a Darwinian model in many ways! But usually the best way forward wins out eventually. Some of the niceties of corporate life can get neglected sometimes - this is very much left to individuals and individual offices to sort out (e.g. charitable work etc) but this is beginning to very very slowly change.

    Advice to Management

    Try to be clearer on company goals, and it would be great if the Vision could remain reasonably stable - this makes it a lot easier to execute! More investment in maintaining the social side of hybris would be good to ensure hybris doesn't get swallowed up into corporate thinking.

    I worked at hybris Software full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    The company is firing on all cylinders, with incredible sales execution and growth.

    Cons

    The product reputation sightly outpaces the reality of the product. Its moving rapidly in a good direction, but needs more innovation to make the omni-channel vision a reality. SAP is doing the right thing by keeping hybris mostly autonomous. Let's hope that continues.

    Advice to Management

    First don't break it, then push to grow it. Let some of the entrepreneurial culture rub off on SAP.

    I worked at hybris Software full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Strong product offering and strategy in the marketplace; Very strong senior management; Some very talented individuals; Recognisable young culture; People joining will grow quickly; International organisation;

    Cons

    Some groups within the organisation can be seen as a clique; At times, the strong social aspect of working at hybris can become a negative if pushed on people too strongly; Salary levels not great compared to marketplace; Bonus scheme not as generous as it once was; Doesn't seem to be any strategy to offer career progression and growth; Sometimes management lack openess and don't listen enough; Lack of personal recognition of achievements as it tends to be played as team-effort;

    Advice to Management

    Listen to employees more and show that you are listening through your actions; Some legacy employees from start-up days are not as impressive;

    Cons

    Work hours are not very flexible since teams over different countries should be able to contact each other.

    Pros

    Die Leute sind überwiegend jung, dynamisch und freundlich. Die Meisten sind sowohl fleißig als auch agil. Die Personalabteilung ist super. Ich habe ein Macbook Pro als Firmenlaptop bekommen. Eine der besten Firmen, in der man in der Gegend um München arbeiten kann.

    mostly people are young, dynamic and friendly. Mostly hardworking and really agile both in processes. HR is superb. I got Macbook pro as a company laptop. One of the best companies to work around in munich area.

    Cons

    Das Büro in München ist überbelegt. Es gibt dort keinen Platz, und es sieht oft wie bei Betriebsbeginn aus. Man muss 110 % geben und oft reisen.

    Munich office is over occupied, no space and often looks like in a startup mode. U have to give 110% and travel quite often.

    Advice to Management

    Familienfreundlicher gestalten. Den Standort des Büros in München wechseln. Offensichtlich spielt Nostalgie eine Rolle bei der Entscheidung, nicht umzuziehen, aber es ist an der Zeit zu wachsen und sich einen modernen Standort zu suchen.

    Make it more family friendly. change location of Munich office...it obvious some nostalgia surrounds not leaving this place but its time to grow and locate to some modern place.
