I have been working at iGATE full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Fun Place to work. Some BU's have excellent managers while others have mean people full of BS. Depends on where u land.

    Cons

CEO Ashok Vemuri said in one of the interviews that he wants to build a company that can last for 100 years. That's it.
But no real efforts were put in place to standardize the appraisal process, pay attention to banding gaps, retention policy not changed ( though IGATE recently got award for innovative retention policies). There are some offices e.g. Chennai IGATE where promotions are given without checking the capability and in Mumbai/Pune offices even capable resources have to struggle for it and ultimately they get frustrated and leave. The same incompetent resources from Chennai then become project managers/program managers/ associate directors and then start screwing up projects/programs and clients relationships.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just taking over Patni is not enough, you have to bridge the gaps - in thinking, appraisal process, remove bias. Try to retain senior people as they are the key link between customers. HR policy needs to be changed as they agree to pay more to laterals instead of tried and tested internal resources.

I worked at iGATE full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Very good benefits package, good salary rate, kept their promises.

    Cons

No real interaction, too many people doing one thing, never made me feel part of it, disorganized. I was left stranded in El Paso because their project was cut off and never offered me a new location, even when they are an international company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to new projects, new hires and the possibility of actually caring about them.

    Pros

The Finance Dept is relatively prompt in clearing your funds like reimbursement.
