    Pros

This company is in a turn-around situation and facing the right direction! ikaSystems delivers solutions that transform how health plans conduct business. The health care industry is the hottest domain for applied technology and ikaSystems is building a team of the best and brightest to meet these challenges. The work atmosphere is casual and productive; management lets you do your job and welcomes employee innovation. I've been here for 4 weeks and I've taken the time to observe the culture---I've spoken to the rank and file, some of whom have been here for many years. They all concur that ikaSystems has come a long way and is a 100% better company today than it was several yerars ago. Congratulations, ikaSystems! Keep up the good work!

    Cons

My only disadvantage working here is that I'm a contractor and will eventually have to go.......I will miss it here. I've been a contractor for a while and this is by far the nicest group of people I've worked with.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for continuing to provide your customers with quality, timely and innovative solutions and thank you for providing a work environment that fosters personal growth and creativity.

    Pros

The managers and employees at ika are extremely friendly and helpful. It is truly an enjoyable work environment. ika is continuing to grow. This company has a bright future. Many open positions- showing that the company is expanding and wants to acquire new talent. Great location and building. Flexible with hours and location (able to work remotely)

    Cons

The company has received a bad reputation from their past. ikaSystems is currently in a turnaround phase and deserves that recognition.

    Pros

Great company, awesome co-workers, friendly, welcoming and casual work environment. Good benefits, company outings and happy hours. Free private parking, central location. Free fitness center and great company discounts. The Executive Team is very approachable and welcoming. The CEO even greeted me on my first day. It's a pleasure to work here and I enjoy being at work.

    Cons

You're not forced to wear stuffy suits. You don't have to be crammed on the T to get to work. The lady next to me makes me laugh all day until my ribs hurt. It's an awesome company, however it would be really nice if they had pet insurance.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, continue the fun activities and keep caring about the employees. Thank you for not being stuffy and unapproachable.

    Pros

Flexibility in terms of balancing work hours or location, i.e., Remote Vs On-site.

    Cons

Frequent management changes. If you do not pander to some key higher ups/ divas consider yourself as unworthy. You will either be shown the door or you may be smart enough to leave before they do.

    Advice to Management

Get a grip on reality. You have no successful implementations. Several long term resources left and you made no attempt to retain them or change your attitude. Realize sooner than later that your efforts to salvage this sinking ship will not b successful while the current management holds the reigns.

It’s true that because we are a small company, there are fewer resources and we need to be efficient with what we have, but the lean structure also means that we have fewer layers of management to ... More

    Pros

Surrounded by super smart and capable people, meetings are actually fun - very positive, really feel like you are accomplishing something. Great executive team - very approachable. Products and clients are solid and impressive. I look forward to coming to work., I think that says it all.

    Cons

Not a lot of processes or down time. If you don't like fast-paced or need a lot of hand holding, this is not your jam.

    Advice to Management

Not a lot of communication about what other departments are doing - you, know the "congratulations to our Test team" or "our Soft Dev team created XYZ in record time". Most companies send out too many emails about this, ika doesn't send any.

    Pros

Leaders, managers and employees are committed to transforming the way work is done in this organization. Revitalized focus on quality, process enhancements, efficiency, productivity and hiring top talent.

    Cons

Company is going through an enormous transformation - the velocity is intense and there's no place to hide. People who are not top performers with cutting edge skills will not survive. There's very little slack in the system and everyone needs to "pull their weight". Burnout is a risk.

    Advice to Management

Stay the course on process efficiencies and don't let up on demands for high quality work. Build some extra capacity into the system to give your best employees a chance to re-charge.

    Pros

Making major enhancements in process, technology and quality. Growing rapidly. Very cool technology challenges. Really good people (mix of experience and new people)

    Cons

Some people who aren't high performers and/or are not evolving their skillsets are not happy. It's a classic example of a company moving from start-up to high growth mode and that isn't comfortable for all people.

    Advice to Management

Management generally takes a "cannot confirm or deny" attitude regarding future layoffs. I'd recommend that they get more specific. More specifically, 1) If you deliver and customers love you, you have nothing to worry about, 2) if you're on the tech side, you have to either grow by having up-to-date technology skills (SOA vs client server) or progress as a business expert (health plan guru) e.g. to lead implementations. 3) If you're performing repetitive tasks, automate them and take on more.
