    Pros

opportunity to move up is always there, most of your bosses are very easy to talk to

    Cons

Black out dates for vacations are ridiculous, you can't have any back bone with your customers for fear of a dreaded negative web hit, if you like being a workaholic and having not a lot of free time this job would be perfect for you!

    I have been working at rue21 part-time

    Pros

    - Fun atmosphere
    -Great learning experience
    - No strict clothing rules
    - Easily one of the best places to learn about retail and customer service
    - It's usually a fast-paced store, so you learn how to multi-task well.
    - People at work are awesome to be around
    - Perfect for a first job

    Cons

This is one of the few things that bug me the most.

I was set up to become one the managers for my store, and I was only working there for 5 months at the time (Wowza, right?). When they say there is room to be promoted, it's kind of true. However, they gave me training and taught me all these things that the managers do. I've spent a lot of time doing all these things and wanted to get prepared to do interviews. First one went okay. Second was perfect. The third one? It didn't happen. My District Manager was too busy to come interview me, so she had to get a replacement. Which didn't bug me that bad, but the fact that the replacement didn't even call to tell us that she wasn't going to do it today. I waited half hour after my shift was over and not a word. I was never told that if I was going to get the third interview or not. So they stood me up for the management position.

    TL;DR- They can be flaky

Another thing, they pressure you pretty hard to make the fragrance goal, LY, and the weekly goal. And if you don't make it due to slow days or constant rejections, they will be upset with you. They don't care if that day was busy or not. They force you to become a desperate fool to increase those percentages.

    I worked at rue21

    Pros

Got discounts on clothes, many promoting opportunities, learn how to multitask

    Cons

I got promoted to assistant manager and district and corporate only care about sales and not workers and they don't know how to keep their workers happy and loyal to the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show more appreciation to your rue crew instead of only have associate appreciation day so you can get back your money

I worked at rue21 full-time for more than a year

    Pros

People that you work with, pay, benefits. If you get the right DM it could be great

    Cons

They promote people into leadership roles to quickly with no real experience in running a district. Micro managing is the worst i have ever seen in 22 years of retail. Dm says one thing then on next visit says i never said that. No matter how good fragrance is or numbers its never good enough. Dm believes she is better then everyone else under her, and her way is always best way. So do it then change it. All while building sales and task to get it done. No payroll to do get anything done, then get told it all has to be done. No hours to do everything that needs to get done, and they wonder why shrink goes up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend some money on floor coverage so things can get finished some projects take hours to complete.

    Pros

    Easy job with affordable clothing.

    Cons

Negative environment in the store. The Store Manager was great but did not handle the drama caused by certain employees. There are some older bad seeds that are keeping this store from reaching its full potential.
