Interviewed Aug 2010 in Corona, CA (took 1 week)
They look through online applications pretty regularly. I was contacted within a week for an interview and the interview itself was pretty basic. I was mostly asked questions pertaining to my work history and availability, etc.

I cut the interview short because the guy interviewing me apparently thought I wanted to be a membership counselor. I don't do minimum wage or commission I am a week shy of a degree in management with a large background in IT as well. Either way when he started talking about selling selling selling I cut him off politely and let him know I did not apply for that- therefore I did not want to waste his time or my own as I was not interested. Got up and left.

I dont know if I got the job yet or not but the interview consisted of answering super generic questions like why do you want to work here and what are your strength and weaknesses, why do you want to work at 24 hours, what makes you want to be a trainer etc.

Interviewed May 2010 in Vancouver, WA (took a day)
My interview was a breeze. The manager barely asked me any real interview questions, mostly just told me about the job. She seemed to really like me and called me the next day to offer me the job.

Interviewed Jul 2008 (took 2 weeks)
Since the club was just opening it took so long for me to hear back after my first interview. It was basic questions about myself and then about two weeks later I got called for a second interview with the club manager. She was really nice and asked me about my strengths and weaknesses, also about a time that I was under a lot of pressure. I thought it was a bit excessive for a small part time job position

The overall process is pretty easy , the first thing you do is apply online using a online personality test. If you can pass that the next step is to call the club you work at to make sure you they got it and that you passed. After you go in you meet with the general manager or regional manager and they ask you mostly behavioral questions .

Interviewed Feb 2009 (took a day)
Company manager called to set up the interview. The interview was in the store. The hiring manager was a little late in receiving me due to employee shortage. She was friendly, a little distracted, but asked the normal interview questions. I thought we communicated well, but she stated at the end of the interview she was still evaluating other applications. I didnt have a great feeling about that, and did not hear back from her.

You either fill in the online application form or hand in your resume in person. The FM will take your interview. If you have at least one certification you are generally eligible to be employed. Interview was non-technical. Basically I was asked if I could get results. So asked if they meant the results in terms of selling the training sessions & the supplements or the results in terms of improving the health of my clients. The FM was stumped. So I said I could do well on both counts.
That was about it.

Interviewed Jul 2009 (took 4+ weeks)
2 different I:I interviews. First was with SM who seemed to be impressed by both my resume as well as my general demeanor. After a brisk and informal sit down, she sent me over to interview more professionally with our CM. Much like our SM, he seemed to be quite blown away by my affable and gregarious disposition as well. He said that although there were no positions currently available, he would hold onto my info and find a way to fit me into his club within the next month. 30 days later I got a call from the SM welcoming me to the team :)

Negotiation Details
In my meeting with the CM, he brought out the classic "what is the least amount you could work for" hiring question. I honestly answered that I would settle for no less than $10/hr. The CM agreed that this was a novel and worthy starting point. However, as paperwork was being processed that week, I discovered that I was going to be started at $8.50. This was a wage I thought beneath me, so I brought this discrepancy to the CM who said that the "$10 discussion" was merely a part of the interview process and it is company policy to start all new hires at $8.50. Negotiations ended from there.
