    Design/Sales Consultant Interview

I applied online – interviewed at 3 Day Blinds in August 2014.

    Interview Details

Lots of back and forth with different people, mostly over the phone. Was offered the job. Filled out thirty plus pages of personal paperwork. Jumped through hoops to arrange for out of town training. Was advised different locations by different people.
Spoke with yet another "sales manager" and was advised to expect a 60 hour work week, in order to make the expected goals. I replied that I was expecting a 40 hour work week. A few minutes later I received a phone call revoking my job offer! One of the most unprofessional situations I've ever been in... They disrespect me and my time, before I even started to work there.
They said to ignore all the negative reviews here on glass door! My opinion, read the reviews, and run don't walk in the other direction.

    Interview Questions
    • The interview was not difficult for a sales professional.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
Not an issue, but they revoked the job offer, after I was all set to travel for training!

They show you how older design consultants made a lot of money. They will hire anyone because it is commission only. They don't have much to lose, but you might lose your dignity

    Interview Questions
    • They ask you if you have sales experience and hire everyone who seems like they can talk to people   View Answer
    Negotiation Details
None, they made a lot of promises and misleading statements. I made no money and lost my unemployment benefits in the process. I hated working with such unprofessional people

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 daysinterviewed at 3 Day Blinds.

    Interview Details

I interviewed with the Customer Care manager, who seemed young and unprofessional. Met with the VP over the department, who came off like a creep. They inflated the offer and made it sound better than it really was. They really think you should be impressed with $5/hr. less than any respectable call center would offer for the same work.

    Interview Questions
    • There were none. They're only looking for people who can fill the seat and scrape by, so they aren't very critical.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
Ask for more money. If they don't give it to you, walk out and put your resume on Monster.

I thought that the interview process was simple. I was initially contacted by a hiring company that set up a phone interview with the district manager. Once the phone interview was completed, the district manager and I set up an in person interview. Shortly after that, I was hired.

    • There were no difficult questions. The company is interested in finding people who are a good fit for the job.   Answer Question

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at 3 Day Blinds in August 2013.

The hiring process is good, the benefits and pay structure seems to be good. Training in the corporate office is thrown together by a non-sales person. No personal sales training, mostly computer modules.

    Interview Questions
    • They make the bonuses next to impossible to hit even for the seasoned veterans that have been there for many years. Management could care less if you do things right the first time yet they knock you out of bonus for three months if you falter.   View Answer

    Application Details

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at 3 Day Blinds in February 2013.

    Interview Details

Initially to alked to guy in Texas with outside Hiring firm, even though I was a referral from a current employee. He did not have any specific info about company and he just asked general sales questions. Had not read my resume. He then set up an interview with the District Sales Manager 3 days in advance. We met at local showroom location, then walked to nearby Starbucks for actual interview. We ended up perched (uncomfortably) on stools near the coffee pick up line. He talked a lot about himself - how great he was as a boss, how successful his district was (all lies), how much people loved him. He would not answer my questions about specific territory or commission structure. I then had phone interview with VP in Irvine. He was only half paying attention to my answers to his questions. Cut me off at 5 minutes. I was told to take test which I thought would be skills or personality index but it was more of an ethics test. Questions were in reference to drugs, stealing, showing up for work, etc. Shocking questions for professional environment. Next thing I knew, I received email with offer letter. No specific territory mentioned, nor commission structure clarified. But I did have all benefits outlined in package. I was told to print out 11 attachments, totaling 300+ pages in all and fax stuff in to Texas guy (not HR). My start date was supposed to be a Tuesday, but I received an email changing it to Wednesday Monday at 4pm. Did not speak to my boss (he was not present nor did he call) until Friday.

    Interview Questions
    • No hard questions asked, all very general typical sales questions. He mostly talked about himself.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
No clarity about rate of pay, much less negotiation! Training was $600/wk. I was told it would be 4-5 weeks long which seemed too long.
