Accounting Manager at A&P

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Montvale, NJ Dec 2010 – Reviewed Aug 29, 2011

Interview Details – The interview process went fairly quickly as the position had been open for a while it seemed. Initally I had a phone interview with HR and the hiring VP to see if what they were offering what was I was looking for and/or qualified for. They got me scheduled for an in-person interview right away after that. I met with HR, the hiring VP and the CFO. The interviews were fairly painless. They asked me basic questions about my experience with the job responsibilities. The CFO gave me a lot of background about the company and offered me some sort of comfort level since the company was going through bankruptcy. After the interviews my recruiter went back and forth a few times working on an offer that I ultimately declined. They were fairly flexible in meeting my requests.

Interview Question – Did I have any experience working with a company going through bankruptcy before and what were my thoughts on it.   Answer Question

Director at A&P

No Offer – Interviewed in Montvale, NJ Feb 2011 – Reviewed Mar 28, 2011

Interview Details – Phone interview followed by a Skype interview. Then went on-site for for four people - HR, prospective employees, boss and that person's boss.

Difficult interview for them and me. Company obviously in a tough spot, but they have good people trying to turn it around - the question for all of us was "is this what you want to be doing right now?"

Finance Manager at A&P

No Offer – Interviewed in Jan 2012 – Reviewed Feb 7, 2012

Interview Details – HR emailed me to schedule a phone interview with the hiring manager. The phone interview was extremely awkward. The company is in dire financial problems. The hiring manager sounded extremely stressed which made me a bit uncomfortable. The position responsibilities were not properly reflected in job interview; wasn't a good fit with my background

Interview Question – Tell me why you would like to work for a company that is experiencing bankruptcy.   Answer Question

Cashier at A&P

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Jul 2009 – Reviewed May 30, 2011

Interview Details – Pretty simple, I went in and she asked me a few questions. After I went for a drug test, filled out some forms then was hired. It was only one interview but was a very shallow interview they didn't ask me many questions at all.
