Listen and empathise with the customer. Relate back to them what happened and what the result of the mistake was. Let them know that you are very sorry for the inconvenience they have experienced and you will be sure to do whatever you are able to rectify the situation. Get as much information as possible, then contact the branch manager/customer service rep to review the problem and help the resolbe the issue as quickly as possible.
