Interviewed May 2011 (took 2 weeks)
I came at the tail end of the interviewing process, so I was fortunate enough to hear back relatively immediately after each step of the interview process. There were two phone interviews and then a final interview with the senior staff in the branch office you would most likely be relocating to (or that was closest to you).
My immediate impression was how laid back everyone at the firm appeared to be. For consulting and within the finance world, that was foretelling of the work life balance and flexibility the firm offers. I spoke to another analyst, then a Managing Director, and at the panel interview--a Partner and two consultants. 2 out of the 5 people had gone through/went through the track I was applying for and the other 3 had come from the SEC or state regulatory body.
Most of the interview process was behavioral based questions. They want to make sure you're a good fit for the firm as much as sharing what the firm values. There were a couple of brain teasers in the second interview. The last interview was just a chat about previous experience, why you're interested int eh job, and behavioral questions.
Smooth, painless process. One of the best and most professionally conducted interview processes I've gone through (and that's compared to my less than impressive interview experiences at major consulting firms).
